Sue Ramirez and Sofia Andres Get Emotional About 'The Iron Heart' Finale
The Metro cover girls looked back on their series with so much love and appreciation for their characters and the fans who supported "The Iron Heart"
As The Iron Heart draws to a close, the cast and crew of the drama—such as Sue Ramirez and Sofia Andres—admit to missing shooting for the action show. According to Sue, it makes her proud to be part of such a successful series. The show’s finale is being filmed in Tokyo, Japan, making it even more of a must-watch.
“I’m very proud of that show! Simula Day 1 talaga hanggang sa mga huling eksena ko, talagang tutok na tutok ako to watch,” she told Metro.Style, sharing that apart from acting in the thrilling teleserye, she also found the story gripping. “Ibang-iba ’yung kuwento niya sa typical na Filipino teleserye natin. Sobrang proud ako to be part of that show kasi, promise, it was really made of hard work talaga.”
“Ang hirap din ng lock-in namin sa Cebu pero kinaya. Lumipat na sila ng Iloilo pero kinaya pa rin and now [that] it’s almost over, I can’t feel anything but pride that I’ve been part of that show,” Sue added.
Sofia, meanwhile, sees the show as her most memorable project to date. “Hay, naku! Baka mag-emote ako,” she quipped, when asked a question about her feelings toward the offering’s finale. “First things first, I really want to say na I’m really so blessed and lucky to be part of something big,” she started. After all this time, after being a mom kasi, parang nag-mature ka. You get to appreciate people around you.”
“I feel like ’yung sense ng belonging and family, it’s different. Parang hindi siya trabaho,” the Kapamilya celebrity and Zoe Essentials founder continued. “That’s why for me, it’s the most memorable project I’ve ever had, and I’m so proud of it! It’s doing well at the same time.”
Rising to a record of 451,538 concurrent views as a character was announced to be alive, The Iron Heart is helmed by Direk Lester Pimentel Ong and headlined by Richard Gutierrez. It revolves around an undercover agent who is determined to bring down a rabid syndicate called Tatsulok. Other cast members include Jake Cuenca, Dimples Romana, Albert Martinez, Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, Meryll Soriano, and many more.
Sue Ramirez plays the character of Venus Magbanua, Richard Gutierrez’s leading lady in the two-season television series, while Sofia Andres portrays Nyx Bonifacio, the classic muse of the gentleman mafia Tatsulok.
Scroll down for our exclusive Q&A session with Sue and Sofia:
What did you love most about your character here, and what has it taught you?
Sue: “What I love most about Venus—Venus is my character—she’s a lot like who I am; she’s a lot like me. I really connected to this character because she’s family-oriented. Kahit na wala siyang family, e. Hindi siya lumaki [na may family], pero nag-build siya ng family for herself—na parang family is not only by blood. You can choose who you want your family to be. So I’m very like that also with my friends. Talagang I treat them as family. So siguro, ’yun ’yung pinakamalaking takeaway ko—na blood relations are just blood relations. But really, you can choose who you want your family to be.”
Sofia: “She’s [Nyx] sincere, strong, independent. I admire her! She can offer so much more kasi iba siya magmahal.”
Please share a scene that was particularly challenging or memorable for you.
Sue: “Siguro, the last scene that I did for The Iron Heart. Medyo sudden kasi ’yung exit ng character ko sa show kasi nga, there were scheduling problems. But siguro, yeah, how Venus said goodbye—’yun siguro ’yung pinaka-challenging for me. And pinaka-memorable? Ang dami! Sobrang grabe ’yung mga action scenes namin du’n. I really like my action scene with Sofia [Andres]. I feel na ’yun na ’yung pinakamatinding fight scene na ginawa ko for the show. And of course, I’m doing it with a very close friend. It was very collaborative between us. We were sensitive to each other so nag-enjoy kami while doing it.”
Sofia: “For me, it’s the action kasi more on action kami, ’di ba? You have to be fit; you have to be healthy. Kasi siyempre, after, I have to go home to my daughter nang buo, you know? And that’s different! It’s something that excites me.”
Please share a short message with all the fans of The Iron Heart.
Sue: “Sa lahat po ng fans ng The Iron Heart’ maraming-maraming salamat po sa pag-suporta sa The Iron Heart since Day 1. Sinamahan n’yo po kami. Gradually, nakita namin na tumataas nang tumataas ’yung views nu’ng show namin and na-a-appreciate po namin lahat ng efforts [n’ yo]. Thank you sa mga Cebuanos [sa] mainit na pagtanggap and sa mga taga-Iloilo, thank you. Thank you so much! Nothing but gratitude to all of you and sana, hanggang sa huling episode ay kumapit pa rin po kayo.”
Sofia: “Mga Kapamilya, maraming-maraming salamat po sa pagsubaybay ng The Iron Heart at mahal na mahal po namin kayong lahat sa walang hanggan n’yong suporta. We appreciate you guys so much! At sana, ’wag po kayong tumigil manood hanggang matapos ’to. Salamat po.”
