Led by Andrea Brillantes, Kyle Echarri, Juan Karlos, Elijah Canlas, Zaijian Jaranilla, and Xyriel Manabat, Senior High is the latest coming-of-age content on television that tells the story of teenage students who struggle with sensitive issues such as identity crisis, bullying and criminal behavior, peer pressure, substance abuse, and suicide.

The mystery-thriller tackles mental health as well to help move the audience and raise awareness of the pressing matter. People in similar situations are sure to lift a lesson or two from this primetime project.

“I want to make this different and magkaroon talaga ng impact and makatulong talaga kami sa ibang tao na we need to take responsibility for our own life,” Andrea Brillantes shared in one of her statements.

Some of the show’s stars like Juan Karlos, when asked about personal experiences with peers in real life, replied: “Mahabang storya pero marami na kong pinagdaanang mga bagay-bagay na ganiyan. Alam mo ‘yun—thinking you can trust people and turning out that you can’t.”

Xyriel Manabat, meanwhile, told Metro.Style that she means well when it comes to her siblings. “Sa perspective ng parents [ko], sa mga kapatid ko, nakikita ko kung pa’no nila gustong mag-try hard para mapabuti ‘yung anak nila. Ganu’n din ako sa [mga] kapatid ko.”

Ahead of its airing on Monday, August 28, a special screening took place at Ayala Malls TriNoma in Quezon City.
