The Stars of ‘The Goodbye Girl’ Gab About Love

The new iWantTFC original, premiering tonight, is an exploration of the kind of people we become in love and heartbreak

This Valentine’s Day, four former Pinoy Big Brother housemates become bona fide leading ladies in Noringai’s The Goodbye Girl, a five-part series exploring love and heartbreak.

Maris Racal, Loisa Andalio, Barbie Imperial, and Elisse Joson join Angelica Panganiban in the new iWantTFC original, streaming tonight through February 19.

The Goodbye Girl begins with Yanna (Angelica Panganiban), who becomes viral after she drunkenly goes live, revealing her feelings and resentment about love and heartache. She is offered a book deal by Jeff (JC de Vera) to write about various love stories, as well as the relationship advice that she gives.

Over the course of the next episodes, we meet each of the girls. There’s Mara (Loisa Andalio), “ The Clueless Girl,” who keeps getting broken up with, including Gab (played by Ronnie Alonte), who leaves her without reason.

Kiera (played by Barbie Imperial) is “The Other Girl,” who feels as though she isn’t being prioritized by her lover, the married Franco (Turs Daza). Later, she learns that she is but one of his many mistresses.

Julia (played by Elisse Joson), is “The Legally Blind.” Engaged to Ean (Joshua Colet), she lives with the hope that he will stop flirting with other girls when they finally get married.

And finally, there’s Ria (played by Maris Racal), “The Bitter Hopia,” who is deeply in love with Caio (played by Rico Blanco), who only views their relationship as something casual.

The girls—Maris, Elisse, Loisa, and Barbie—all graced a virtual media conference this afternoon to gab about the show, as well as love and relationships, including lessons and advice they’ve learned and received throughout the years.

Maris, who gets to work with her real-life beau, Rico Blanco, in the series, pulls from her past experiences and relationships. “Based lang ’to sa experience ko, since na-experience ko na siya, and I’m 24 years old now. I-a-advise ko ’to sa mga mas bata sa’kin,” Maris says. “ “Your boyfriends right now, hindi dapat sila maghi-hinder sa’yo, sa growth mo. ’Cause ’yung years—’yung teenagers to early 20s—sobrang, sobrang importante ’yan sa growth mo, so you should just focus on yourself. Kung may someone man na hahawakan ka, or ikukulong ka para hindi mo gawin ’yung gusto mo, let him go.”

For Elisse, partner to McCoy De Leon and new mom to Felize, it’s important that you and your partner lift each other up. “Sa’kin naman, whoever you choose to be around with, or whoever you choose to be your partner, dapat both of you, you lift each other up. Hindi dapat yung taong ’yun, hihilahin ka pababa kasi walang mangyayari sa inyo ’pag gan’un. Wala talaga,” she laughs.
