5 Things That Make Toni Gonzaga Happy These Days—Including Headlining The "My Sassy Girl" Remake!
As she celebrated her 37th birthday, multimedia star Toni Gonzaga talked about the things that have made her life worth living
Toni Gonzaga celebrated her 37th birthday yesterday with her family in Boracay with a special announcement.
The actress was with her husband, director Paul Soriano, and their son Seve, on her special day and to make the most of it, she treated her fans to a Q&A sesh between her and Paul. The 15-minute interview, published on her YouTube channel with the title "My Birthday Revelation," had Paul asking Toni questions he's never asked her before.
In line with our "5 Things That Make Me Happy These Days" series here on Metro.Style, we listed all those that give Toni so much joy and happiness today.
Paul: What inspires you?
"Mostly talaga, I get inspired when I look at Seve and when I talk to Paul. Paul doesn't look at failures. Parang sa kanya, every failure is a lesson that is needed to be experienced para may matutunan ka in life. My biggest inspiration really is my two boys in life," Toni starts.
Toni answers, "The simplest of things—like the morning coffee you do for me. It makes me the happiest. It brightens up my day. It makes my day when I see you and Seve beside me, and I see Seve sleeping soundly! When I wake up and I see Seve's face, buo na 'yung araw ko."
Outside of family life and when it comes to work, Toni says it's when she knows she's been able to do her best—and not feel like she could have done better!
Paul: What about me? What do you want me to improve on or change?
"I honestly don't want you to change," Toni begins.
"The way you are with our family, you treat me, the way you are with your co-workers, sana hindi ka magbago.'Yung mga little flaws... mapapalampas ko naman 'yun eh," she says.
"But the big things that count like your principles in life, your beliefs what you stand for, your values—the best!" she smiles.
"Seeing you [and Seve] having so much fun. 'Yung minsan sisilip ako tapos naglalaro silang dalawa, they're rolling over the carpet, or he's building Seve's toys, 'yung heart ko," she smiles.
Paul: What's been your greatest achievement so far?
Toni tells him, "I feel like my greatest achievement has yet to come. It's hard to pick one."
"Siguro 'yung pinaka-latest, My Sassy Girl. Siguro that's mine to date. First time kong mapanuod 'yung pelikula in 2006 when we were shooting You Are The One. 'Di ko makalilimutan 'yun... Sabi ni Direk Cathy [Garcia-Molina], 'Panoorin mo 'yung My Sassy Girl. 'Yan 'yung peg namin sa'yo... " 20 years after the film, I'm given the chance to play the role here in the Philippine adaptation of My Sassy Girl. I consider it as a big blessing," she shares.
My Sassy Girl is a hit Korean film from 2001 that helped bring Korean cinema to the international stage. A rom-com and melodrama at its core, the film is both entertaining and heartwarming, successfully endearing Filipino viewers to Korean pop culture.
In celebration of its 20th Anniversary, this year we will relive the classic Korean RomCom with its Philippine adaptation. On her birthday, we are proud to announce Toni Gonzaga is Philippines’ My Sassy Girl. #MySassyGirlPH pic.twitter.com/TUb9pCiBW5
