Valeen Montenegro and Riel Manuel are officially Mr. and Mrs. The couple tied the knot with an understatedly elegant wedding that echoed their no-fuss personalities.
Valeen and Riel’s wedding took place on January 12, 2024, with the ceremony held at Santuario de San Antonio Parish in Forbes Park, Makati and the reception at The Conservatory at The Peninsula Manila.
As Valeen and Riel stepped into this adventure of a lifetime, they made sure their wedding, filed under the social media hashtag #OhWellManuel, was memorable through and through. One way they got to achieve that was by entrusting their big day with a team of suppliers who understood who they were as a couple and knew how to elevate the event without veering away from their personalities.
A beautiful story, for instance, is how Valeen tapped her best friend, bridal gown designer Banggo Niu, to create her wedding gown. On Instagram, Banggo dedicated a post to her college best friend Valeen, telling her, “I will never forget the time I told you back in university that I would make your wedding gown! And now, the time has come! It’s an honor to be a part of this new chapter in your life, Vee! Love you.”
The couple’s wedding coordinator, Cha Andrada, was also introduced to Valeen and Riel through a mutual friend who, as Cha told us, “thought we would work well together.” And their friend was right. “After the initial introduction, we had a chance to talk, and we realized that we shared similar values and had the same goal一to make their wedding seamless and uncomplicated,” Cha shared. “Our initial conversation was a great example of how meaningful connections can lead to exciting opportunities.”
Cha further shared that the couple was keen on details but so easy to work with because they knew what they wanted from the get-go: a seamless, effortlessly elegant wedding. Planning a January wedding does come with challenges; but, with a couple like Valeen and Riel who “have a clear vision of what they want for their wedding” and are also open to suggestions, the wedding planning process was a breeze and made room for creativity to flourish.
Cha added, “Valeen and Riel came to us with a vision of a wedding that was first and foremost seamless. Their initial requirements were quite straightforward. They wanted an event that could unfold without any hitches, with every detail carefully orchestrated to contribute to an unforgettable experience. They wanted a sense of effortless elegance… Valeen and Riel were looking for a wedding that would leave a lasting impression not just as a well-executed event, but as a warm, joyous celebration that encapsulated their love story and shared it beautifully with their loved ones.”
The stunning outcome of this wedding also highlights the importance of working with wedding suppliers whose vision and aesthetic align perfectly with the couple. With classic and simple elegance for a theme, event stylist Dave Sandoval was the fitting choice to translate Valeen and Riel’s wedding mood board to a tangible dream event worth raving about for years. After the wedding, Valeen told Dave, “Love how you really know us.” Valeen is an actress, host, comedienne, vlogger, fitness enthusiast, and the entrepreneur behind Anaya Swimwear. Riel is a cinematographer.
Even with the exciting wedding trends emerging these days, timelessness will always be an important factor for this special occasion. “I think couples will still want a classic look for this year,” Dave said. After all, it is every engaged couple’s goal to have a wedding they would love to look back on even as many years passed. And this wedding fits that description seamlessly. One of Valeen’s bridesmaids, Dasuri Choi, can attest to that, as she said, “The wedding was really perfect until the after party. Good job!!!"

The bridal beauty look
When it comes to bridal makeup, the direction is usually to simply enhance the bride’s features. “Less is more” always applies to the beauty look for a special occasion like a wedding because being experimental with the hair and makeup might result in less-than-ideal outcomes that might not even look great in photographs.
With the skills of makeup artist Toni Aviles, the gorgeous Valeen looked even more stunning with a simple makeup style Toni calls “radiant and ethereal bridal elegance.”
We couldn’t agree more with that description with the muted shades used for Valeen’s eyes and lips, her subtly rosy cheeks, her brushed up brows, the subtle wingtips, and the specks of shimmer on her lids. The hairstyle that went with this was a neat ponytail with wavy ends, as put together by Manilyn of Gorgeousa Makeup Studio.
Valeen was a picture of perfection in her breathtaking and impeccably stylish wedding gown, custom-made with love by her friend, fashion designer Banggo Niu. It was accessorized by equally elegant jewelry pieces from ARCA Bespoke Jewelry.
The gown fit like a glove, prompting the bride to comment “I love you i love you i love you Banggy!! Dream come true.” Banggo told Metro.Style, “We have been both on the same page since we started working on her wedding dress! The serpentine cut, the 'light' and 'effortless' feel of the dress, and the fresh yet timeless look of it!”
The exquisite fully beaded creation features a figure-hugging silhouette, an off-shoulder detail, and a flowy matte gloss train. The detachable off-shoulder accent and train are both in Peau de Soie/Italian Gazaar fabric. Banggo liked how the “lightness” of her base dress/main gown lent a stunning contrast with the heavy and luxurious add-on fabric. “The clash of the two different elements definitely gave the perfect amount of drama I wanted for the look,” he shared.
Wedding ensembles that transform have always been the go-to of many brides because of their practicality and the way they allow an easy ceremony-to-reception transition. Valeen’s wedding gown also transformed into a fun party dress with the neckline and train detached. What a great idea and a seamless transformation at that!
This color motif lent a subtle punch to the wedding’s all-white palette while keeping to the theme’s sophistication. On Instagram, bridesmaid Dasuri Choi credited and tagged Banggo Niu for her dress.
The classic all-white palette complemented the intricate interiors of Santuario de San Antonio Parish and the elegant space of The Conservatory at The Peninsula Manila. The church’s aisle featured a mix of white flowers and greenery, which continued into the reception venue.
We just love how classy and romantic Valeen's wedding looked. Every detail complemented each other, as seen in her bridal bouquet of white roses which were also the choice accents for the aisle.
To punctuate the tablescapes, Dave used luxe white chairs with gold trims. “The direction was simple elegance,” Dave told Metro.Style. “Through my meetings with them, I think the direction suited their personalities. They wanted an understated celebration that reflected their innate taste."
Dave added, “They are not a flashy couple, they are warm and chill. Our signature style is rooted in timeless classics, one where our couples can look back to in their photos and it would look elegant and not dated. That was what they wanted for their wedding. We decorated with florals such as hydrangeas, Ecuadorian roses, tulips, gypsophilla, lisiantus, and carnations, with accents of eucalyptus and English ivy leaves.”
What a well-planned and beautifully executed wedding this truly was! No element stuck out like a sore thumb, as the couple and their team of suppliers were very intentional with the elements of the event. Event coordinator Cha Andrada shared with us, “When Valeen and Riel were planning their wedding, they envisioned a theme that complemented the elegance and charm of The Conservatory at The Peninsula Manila. Their aim was to create an ambiance of class and sophistication while ensuring that their design choices would not overshadow The Conservatory’s natural beauty. They wanted the wedding to exude a timeless grace and with the help of their event stylist, Dave Sandoval, they were able to create a color palette, decorative elements, and styles that were refined and understated. The Conservatory at The Peninsula Manila is known for its stunning glass walls that require a careful approach to decor to enhance rather than compete with its surroundings. Ultimately, Val and Riel sought to achieve a delicate balance between their personal tastes and the intrinsic aesthetics of the venue, so that each component would be a harmonious part of a larger, elegant celebration.”
Other suppliers who contributed to making this dream wedding come true include Liya Fine Jewelry for their wedding bands, Fort & Tailler for Riel’s tuxedo, and High Impact Events for the lights and sounds system.
