Vice Ganda And Ivana Alawi Are "Partners In Crime" In An Upcoming MMFF Film
Lead stars Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi, along with director Cathy Garcia-Molina, hinted at what to expect in their entry for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival
It’s official—Vice Ganda is returning to the big screen at this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) via the Cathy Garcia-Molina film called Partners In Crime. Here, he stars alongside vlogger-actress Ivana Alawi.
The trio is set to offer loads of fun and laughter to families, who are returning to the theaters in December as a form of their Christmas celebration.
In the recent story conference for this Star Cinema movie, Vice, Ivana, and direk Cathy all shared how excited they are for Partners In Crime. The director gave a short primer of the story—that it is a tale of two exes who cross paths again, only to be both involved in a crime.
Cathy points out what people should look forward to in the movie, saying, “How they will survive and how they will get out of the situation?”
Meanwhile, Vice and Ivana are both anticipating their “Cathy-fication,” as the former puts it.
“Ako naman, gusto ko lang gumawa ng pelikula lagi. Hindi siya pressure for me. Excited ako talaga to be ‘Cathy-fied,” Vice explains. “Kahit ano’ng unang tagpuan namin, ‘What do you expect?’ tinatanong nila sa’kin. I answered, ‘I expect and will willingly embrace my Cathy-fication. Masarap ’yung maka-Cathy-fy kaming dalawa ni Ivana.”
Vice also opened up about his new mission for this year’s MMFF. “Dati, ang assignment ko is patawanin ’yung mga pamilya tuwing Pasko. Ngayon, ang assignment ko naman is pabalikin sila sa sinehan,” the comedian says.
Ivana, on the other hand, recalls how she and her family used to watch a Vice Ganda movie back in the day. Now, the actress also squeals in delight as she awaits shooting and watching their project together on the big screen.
“To be with Vice pa lang, it’s an achievement,” Ivana muses. “And Direk Cathy, I’m very excited kasi alam ko kung gaano siya kagaling na direktor, and she will really bring out the best in me.”
When asked about their expectations in shooting the movie, both Vice and Ivana say they just want to enjoy what they’re doing. “I’m looking forward to enjoying my character in the story. Kasi mahalaga ’yun—na na-e-enjoy namin ’yung ginagawa namin para tumagos siya sa screen,” Vice comments.
“Sa akin, s’yempre ’yung meron pa rin matututunan at the end of the story. And ma-enjoy ko siya, kasi gusto ko lang talaga i-enjoy ’to. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me,” Ivana remarks.
