WATCH: Bb. Pilipinas International 2018 Ahtisa Manalo On Her Definition Of A True Beauty Queen
Ahtisa Manalo is no stranger to proving people wrong—and proving herself right about her limitless potential.
The 20-year-old might be the youngest of the queens to represent the Philippines in this year's roster of pageants, but trust us when we say that she's wise beyond her years.
To get to know Bb. Philippines International 2018, see some of her most quotable quotes and check out this video where we get up close and personal with the Quezon-born beauty.
On her childhood: "I was always outside playing boy games, lahat ng pang-lalaking laro, I played. I was always with guy playmates, because I grew up with guy cousins so baka 'yon 'yung dahilan kung bakit ako na-influence. I had Barbies, but I used them as targets for my pellet gun! That was me as a child."
On her heritage: "My mom is part Spanish and part Filipina, and my real dad is half-Finnish, half-Swedish. People always ask if I’m Indian or Arabian, but I'm not!"
On her favorite memory from her Binibini experience: "'Yung favorite ko sa pageant 'yung waiting time namin. Doon kami nakakapag-bond ng mga sisters."
On her Q&A training: "We are told that when it comes to Q&A, [judges] don’t need you to answer as if you’re an expert in everything. They just want to see your personality."
On getting used to being in the spotlight: "My life changed because now we’re always in the spotlight. Kahit ano'ng gawin namin, may mga fans na makakakita sa amin, may mga fans na mag-re-react. I was in the airport once, and I didn’t have makeup on and had shades on. I noticed na sila, tumitingin sila sakin, tapos sabi nila, ‘Ma’am, diba ikaw po 'yung Miss International?’ I’m not used to that, talagang private person ako."
On being an accountancy graduate: "It’s nice to have a background in accountancy, because it helps you in life. I have a financial diary. Maybe I can do the accounting side in NGO work [if I decide to pursue working for NGOs]."
