We Got The First Insider Look At Alex Gonzaga's Modern Filipiniana Ensemble For The ABS-CBN Ball

The ABS-CBN Ball 2019 is the grand culmination of everything and everyone fashionable and glamorous in the local entertainment industry, and this year’s modern Filipiniana dress code is no exception.

Among the sea of gorgeous celebrities gracing the red carpet and enjoying the night is actress and celebrity vlogger Alex Gonzaga whose charming and cheerful countenance certainly helped her stand out and rise to the occasion.

Metro.Style was given exclusive access as Alex revealed her outfit for the night. Likewise, the actress gave a breakdown of her fashion choices for the ball.

Alex wore a stunning Joe San Antonio creation, upon the creative recommendation of her stylist Cath Sobrevega. The gown—which she referred to to as “modern classic Filipina with a twist”—emphasized her natural Filipina beauty.

“Classic look na medyo hindi naman sobrang old style, and, at the same time, sexy na hindi nagpapakita ng skin,” Alex shares.

Taking inspiration from the traditional baro’t saya, Alex donned a two-piece deep emerald green Filipiniana gown, accentuated with glittering 3D hand-embroidered glass and Swarovski crystals.

“Lately, I’ve realized that I’ve been liking and always picking something na may green. Dati, I would always pick blue or pink, but now gusto ko laging nakikita ‘yung color green kahit sa bahay. For me, classic sya,” she says.

Her stylist, Cath Sobrevega, also links the design to Alex’s playful personality.

“Alex’s personality is quirky and fun, that’s why there’s a lot of glitter. It’s modern Filipiniana, but we also wanted to play aroundm so we came up with the modern saya look,” Cath explains.

In addition, the actress fell in love with the idea and requested for the stylist and designer to include pockets in her gown for practical reasons.

“She really wanted pockets for her gown, so she can put her phone there. On the red carpet, she doesn’t want to bring her bag but she wants her phone with her,” the stylist adds. Like her gown, Alex’s OPPO A9 is a beautiful marine green, which complements her entire look.   

Given that the ABS-CBN Ball is a night filled with exciting and fashionable moments, it’s only natural for Alex to want her OPPO A9 to be easily accessible so she can take stunning photos for selfies and groufies.
