Check Out How The #Metro30 Girls Have Been Spending Their Days Under Quarantine!
Bonding with family? Check! Cooking and exercising? Double check! Finding ways to help Filipinos in need? Triple, quadruple check!
The past days or so have felt like months rather than two weeks!
Luzon has only gone through half the government's prescribed month-long enhanced community quarantine, and yet, many already feel like the list of activities to do at home under such unique circumstances has been exhausted. But we've found another source of inspiration to motivate us to find more productive ways to spend this challenging time: our Metro 30 cover girls!
The women who graced Metro's digital covers for its 30th anniversary last year have been up to some pretty great things under quarantine, with some choosing to take the time to practice self-care and enjoy family bonding, while others are joining the hustle to help their kababayans in need. Whatever it is you want to do to ride out the quarantine's second half, we're sure these gals can serve as a source of inspiration.
Check out what they've been up to in the gallery below!

KC Concepcion
KC did what all Filipinos did pre-quarantine to make sure they would still have delicious meals to enjoy—make adobo! She captioned her Instagram post with, "Cooked Chicken Adobo for today - to have for the next few days. This Philippine dish gets better and better as the days go by. Perfect for #buhayquarantine." As for entertainment, she's also joined the TikTok bandwagon. (She dedicated a dance routine for frontliners!)
Ruffa Gutierrez
Hilarious. Ruffa posted a series of photos and videos of the most delicious things you could slap on a BBQ grill and captioned it with, "Three months into 2020 and I’m in the kitchen learning how to cook." She's been using her time under quarantine to learn a new skill, with cooking being it! We've also been seeing a lot of Nala, Ruffa's retriever who's been up to no good like stealing toast!
Dawn Zulueta
All production activities for actresses like Dawn have been put on hold, which means it's family time, all day, every day during the quarantine. Work doesn't often allow Dawn to have free days to concentrate on home life, but here she is, enjoying meals and even a couple of board games with the people in her life who matter most.
Lucy Torres-Gomez
Lucy and her husband, Richard Gomez, have always been on the frontlines when their city has needed them most. However, because of safety concerns, they can't always be out and about or interacting with those directly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. On days when they're not out on the field, Lucy makes sure they spend time as a family—a.k.a. what matters most at the end of the day.
Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo
Judy Ann has always been known to be a super mommy, so now that she has all the time in the world to spend at home with her kids (and her husband, Ryan Agoncillo, too!), she's making the most of it. She'snot only using the time to bond with family but has made sure that her kids stay on track with school work (they still have assignments) and are eating healthily, while she continues to raise awareness on how Filipinos can help others in need during this time from the comfort of their own homes. Her IG feed is full of announcements on what people with influence and companies have done to help! Best of all, she volunteered to make face shields for medical frontliners, too.
Heart Evangelista
At first she was chilling with the dogs and enjoying a little downtime. But as the situation in the country worsened and all capable Filipinos were called to their part in addressing the effects of the COVID-19 crisis, Heart got back up on her feet and joined relief efforts by sending masks to all frontliners. (And sending them little notes to help lift their spirits while she's at it!). She's also been supporting her husband, Sorsogon governor Chiz Escudero, as he takes care of the needs of the province's residents.
Angelica Panganiban`
Socializing might be tough these days but that didn't stop Angelica from getting to know the person she's lived next to for at least a year and guess what? They come out at night every now and then and talk. They've exchanged names and numbers at this point, and they've even exchanged food (literally by throwing packs of cheese and chocolate towards each other).
Solenn Heussaff
We're sure she's busy with mommy duties, but depend on Solenn to always make time for a good workout however simple or brief. She's been doing a ton of meditation and yoga during the quarantine. She has even shared some artistic #SolennHacks parents can do at home with their kids.
Kim Chiu
What a month March had been for Kim! She survived the random shooting that put bullets through her van while she was on the way to work. During this time, she makes sure to tend to both her physical and mental health. So what has she been up to? She's been regularly working out, of course, but also, she's been leading relief efforts of her own. She was able to help 500 families in a neighboring community with packs of relief goods.
Pia Wurtzbach
She wrote about feeling grateful for the chance to stay at home and be safe from COVID-19, but also wondered, "Is this enough? What else can I do?" She found the answer to her own question: donations. "Tulungan niyo po kami para matulungan pa po namin sila. If you can, please donate. The link is in my bio po. We will be keeping you updated on our progress too.. Maraming salamat to all my friends and industry friends who took the time to reply and teach me everything I need to know para masimulan ‘tong munting online fundraising," she said. The link leads to a GoGetFunding page for face masks needed by medical frontliners.
Megan Young
She's a self-proclaimed introvert who loves staying at home, which means that she's riding out this quarantine better than most. As a newlywed, Megan has been making the most of her time with husband Mikael Daez and the two have been enjoying their three loves this whole time: coffee, gaming, and time with their pup Soba! She also talked about using this time to connect with family by making sure to send messages or ring people up to make sure they're alright.
Sarah Lahbati
Here's another newlywed who's honeymooning with her husband, Richard Gutierrez, isn't exactly the most conventional (or ideal). Sarah got married right before the quarantine was put in place, and since then, she's dedicated her time to caring for her family and society as a whole. She's helped send out at least two batches of relief packages that include medical and personal care items for groups of people that need them most. They were products of a fundraiser that she started!
Joey Mead King
Joey takes this time "to appreciate the great things that life has given us." Aside from doing breathing exercises, she's also enjoying weaving. She tells Metro.Style, "I have also taken up weaving, and have already made two art wall pieces. I just bought crochet needles and more yarn, and I plan to make some more interesting pieces." Joey has been posting her own inspiring quotes on Instagram as well.
Nadine Lustre
It's an overall peaceful time for Nadine, who seems to be enjoying taking care of plants now. She tagged Lauren Reid in her Instagram Stories and told her she's playing 80s music for her plants; research suggests that music has a good effect on plants and can boost their growth.
