7 Reasons Why BTS' Jimin Is A “Lovely, Lovely, Lovely” Person
Happy Jimin Day! Let’s celebrate Park Jimin’s birthday with the things we appreciate and love about this 95 liner from BTS
Mochi. Chimchim. Jiminssi. Jiminah. Jiminie. These are just some of the nicknames ARMY (the fandom name of BTS) call Park Jimin.
Born in 1995 at the coastal city of Busan, Jimin is the lead vocal and lead dancer of Grammy-nominated, Billboard Hot 100 #1 artist, and Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture of South Korea, BTS. Jimin has wrecked ARMY countless times with his unpredictable visuals and sublime performances. But there is so much more to appreciate about him beyond just his looks and talent. Baby ARMY (i.e. the new fans of BTS), take note!
Below are seven things we love about BTS' Jimin:
1. His duality is insane.
Jimin described himself as cutie, sexy, lovely for a reason. His swift transition from looking soft and cute to sexy and deadly can catch even the most veterans of ARMY off-guard. “His duality is insane” is a line you would often hear from the fans whenever his duality switch is on.
This is also on display whenever he goes on VLive, a live streaming platform that allows him to engage with his fans. In between stories, he gives ARMY a variety of facial expressions that range from charming and adorable to alluring and seductive. Every ARMY is guaranteed to blush and quite possibly, not survive Jimin’s visual attack.

2. He challenges gender norms.
Jimin can pull off women’s clothing and accessories with ease and grace. He’s worn a corset, a women’s blazer, skirt, feminine earrings and so much more to prove that fashion is genderless.
He challenges traditional views on masculinity, too. A quote from Season 1 of Bon Voyage had him asking "what the heck is 'men?,'" a question he posed to one of the members who said that men shouldn’t check their selfies.
His most gender-bending moment was at the 2018 Melon Music Awards when he performed the Buchaechum or Fan Dance, a traditional Koren dance typically performed by female dancers. His masterful performance earned him a plaque of appreciation from the Kim Baek Bong Korean Fan Dance Conservation Society for his unique interpretation of the dance and for raising its profile to the global audience.
3. He’s a mesmerizing performer.
Before joining BTS, Jimin had formal training in contemporary dance一a form of dance that mixes ballet, modern dance and jazz. As a Big Hit trainee, he struggled to transition from dancing contemporary to hip hop as these two dance styles require different types of movement: fluidity is key to contemporary to evoke emotion, while hip hop relies on popping, locking and breaking as a form of self-expression.
Over the years, Jimin managed to combine both dance styles masterfully that he remains the lead dancer of BTS (next to J-hope who is the main dancer). Adding Jimin’s martial arts training to his dance skills (he studied Kendo and has a black belt in Taekwondo), coupled with his exceptional ability to embody the emotions required of the music, allow Jimin to deliver a performance that is both memorable and sensational.
4. He is generous.
Education development is an issue that is close to Jimin’s heart. Over the years, Jimin has donated to various institutions such as the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, Busan High School of Arts (his alma mater) and the Jeonnam Future Education Foundation to support students from low-income families.
Following BTS’ appointment as Special Presidential Envoy for Future Generations and Culture of South Korea, Jimin made another donation to the Gosung Rotary Club to make polio vaccines more accessible to patients in need.
Jimin is a global superstar and is now a billionaire but his desire to pay it forward especially to those who are less fortunate makes him a kind person and ultimately, a good human being.

5. He has a cool sense of style.
Jimin’s airport fashion game is strong. He sticks to classic ensembles, mostly all black, but loves playing around with accessories that add oomph to his outfit一be it a hat, an eye-catching shoulder bag or a cool pair of sunnies.
Offstage, his wardrobe game varies from classic pieces to street style but he’s most often seen wearing hoodies or bright knit sweaters, plaid shirts and comfortable T-shirts, and a pair of black or denim jeans. His collection of cool sneakers and boots complete his interesting wardrobe.
If you’re a new ARMY and want to cop Jimin’s style, invest in these wardrobe staples: black skinny jeans, hoodies, bright-colored knit sweaters, shirts in basic colors (black, white, gray), low-top sneakers and black Chelsea boots. Don’t forget to amp up your style game with these accessories: silver rings, hoops and drop earrings are his favorites!
6. His vocal range is impressive.
Vocal experts have praised Jimin’s unique vocal tonality and his ability to flex it depending on what is required of the song. This famous Twitter thread explains the techniques Jimin used to sing his parts in their recently released song, "Permission to Dance."
ARMY一except those who sing, teach and take vocal lessons一is not an expert at analyzing vocal techniques but we are positively captivated by Jimin’s voice, especially in "Serendipity" with his soft falsetto and "We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2" with his famous growl.
7. His love for BTS and ARMY is on a different level.
Jimin is sweet, caring and thoughtful by nature. He doesn’t shy away from touching and hugging the rest of the members to show he loves and appreciates them一and he does it so often and randomly.
He’s also quick to comfort, cheer up and encourage the members whenever they feel down or think they fall short of fans’ expectations of their performances. Jimin extends that same love, sweetness, and appreciation to ARMY. His messages to ARMY during BTS’ interviews, their concerts and in his posts on Twitter and Weverse (where BTS interacts with their fans) are always comforting and reassuring.
At the "Love Yourself" concert in HongKong, he said, “I wanted to point out how much your love means to us. Each and every one of your voices count. Thank you for your endless love and support. And it would make me so much happier if you all could love yourselves as much as you love us. I just really wanted to tell you guys that. I really love you all.”
We love you, Jimin, and we wish you the happiest of birthdays!
