Inspiring Person Of The Week: ANC's Cathy Yang

She was named the best news presenter at the recently-concluded 24th Asian Television Awards

Who doesn't love to start the week right? When another workweek begins, Monday motivation quotes pour in.

"When life gives you Monday, dip it in glitter and sparkle all day," "every Monday is a chance to start a new fabulous weekembrace it," "okay Monday, let's do this," and "#MonSlay. I'm alive, motivated, determined, and ready to slay the day."

These are just some of our favorites from the internet. But there are tons more that are applicable to people from different walks of life.

We, at Metro.Style, love to inspire our readers through different relevant topics and featured personalities. This is why we're launching an "Inspiring Person of the Week" series every Monday, to motivate you to soldier on for the rest of the week.

Every week, we will be featuring women who have made an impact the previous week and highlight their latest achievements, discoveries, and realizations.

First on this series is ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) anchor Cathy Yang, who was named the best news presenter at the 24th Asian Television Awards.

The host of business news programs Market Edge and Business Nightly beat anchors Cito Beltran (Philippines), Zou Yue (China), Zakka Jacob (India), Tuhi Martukaw (Taiwan), Kishore Ajwani (India), and Hirotada Ototake (Japan).

This is the fourth time Cathy was named as the best news presenter by the Asian Television Awards, but this is the first time she won the award in her home country and with the Kapamilya network.

Cathy shares, "Thank you Asian TV Awards! Humbled and honoured for selecting me as Best News Anchor or Presenter. My first ATA recognition for work done in my home country the Philippines, and with my home Kapamilya network ABS-CBN News Channel. My first three-in-row win for the same category I had reaped during my stint in Tokyo, Japan from 2001-2003." Cathy previously worked at Bloomberg TV in Tokyo, after earning a journalism fellowship at the Oxford University through the support of Reuters Foundation.

The Asian Television Awards was established in 1996 and aims to recognize excellence in programming, production and performance. ATA is the only event of its kind in Asia. Cathy was one of the hosts of the three-day ATA event held at Resorts World Manila From January 10 to 12, 2020.

Last month, Cathy also received the best news anchor award at the Asian Academy Creative Awards in Singapore.

Cathy graduated with a degree in communication arts from the De La Salle University. Prior to joining ANC, she also worked in other ABS-CBN shows such as TV PatrolStock Market Live, The World Tonight, The Weekend News, and Usapang Business.
