#MetroMostStylish2019: Rocio Olbes
"I prefer to be relaxed and comfortable rather than glamorous," says artist, author, and advocate Rocio Olbes, who notices that the older she gets, the more she defines her own aesthetic. Over the years, Rocio has learned to be more mindful about fashion. She opts for local designers and sustainable pieces, and is thrilled that the local fashion scene is very much alive and teeming with talent. "The terno is making a comeback, which makes me happy," she quips.
When you have good taste in fashion, it just shows. And Rocio is proof that you can look stunning for less. She says, "I am not brand conscious at all. In fact, I encourage mixing high and low—I believe balance is key." As someone who values conscious consumption in fashion, she also believes in investing in key pieces that can last for a really long time, and for these, she turns to fashion designers Rajo Laurel and Rosanna Ocampo-Rodriguez and Salvo Tailors that specializes in bespoke suits.
Though it is safe to say that her fashion style evolves according to where she is at in her life, one style rule Rocio always lives by is to embrace comfort over fashion.
“I hone my sense of style by accepting who I am and where I am in life."
