Celebrities and showbiz luminaries mourn as veteran artist handler Leo Dominguez passed away. Seasoned singer and songwriter Ogie Alcasid, Leo’s long-time friend, shared the heartbreaking news last Friday on his social media.

He reposted the announcement from Leo’s family. “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Leo Vinluan Dominguez, who has left us to join our Creator. True to his gentle and quiet nature, Leo departed serenely,” the statement read.

The 64-year-old talent manager, who helped shape the success of Janine Gutierrez, Paulo Avelino, Lovi Poe, and Ogie himself, managed several household names in the industry under his very own talent agency LVD Management Corporation.

A key figure in Philippine entertainment, Leo was deeply revered by his colleagues and talents. His contribution will forever be remembered, especially by those whose lives he had changed and whose careers he had shepherded.

Janine Gutierrez, for one, expressed her great admiration for Leo and his smarts. She even described him as “encyclopedic” for always being accurate when it comes to the history of Philippine cinema.

“From the moment I met him, I knew we’d get along. He loved movies, Blondie, had impeccable taste, and an undeniable sense of humor,” she captioned her IG post. “So many of my dreams came true with him and I’m so very grateful for the journey we shared together for 8 years.”

Paulo Avelino, meanwhile, was heartbroken at the thought of not meeting another Leo Dominguez in his lifetime. “I can't even imagine having a better manager. I’ll forever be grateful to you. Thank you, Tito Leo,” the actor said.

Lovi Poe also paid tribute to the late visionary. Her heartfelt and lengthy message was truly touching. “I met Tito Leo when I was 15. I was a little girl with big dreams, but no one would dare give me a hand or open doors to opportunities,” she began.

“He was the man behind everything I have today: the food on my table, every achievement, my work ethic, and my strength. All because he saw something in me that I couldn’t see in myself the day he met me.”

“I honestly don’t know how life is going to move forward, as you’ve been my speed dial #1 for years now,” she continued, completely devastated. “Thank you for being an amazing second mother. I love you deeply and I will miss you dearly.”

Ogie’s Instagram feed, however, is filled with posts especially dedicated to Leo. He shared the projects that they have been in together, and captured snaps from his wake. Having shared all their fruitful years in Philippine showbiz, Ogie was truly in pain.

“You were the first person who told me that I could be a singer-songwriter back when we were in high school. I actually did not believe you. To say that I had the very best manager in you is a total understatement because you were more than that to me.”

“You were a friend and a real brother for almost 34 years. Salamat, Leo, sa lahat ng pinagpaguran mo para sa akin. Napakasakit sa dibdib na wala ka na. The world just lost a priceless human being,” Ogie carried on. “Love you, Leo Dominguez. Rest now with Jesus.”

Janno Gibbs, Gary Valenciano, Michael V., Jessa Zaragosa, Manilyn Reynes, Jackie Lou Blanco, and more offered their sincere condolences, too, and commented on Ogie’s post to comfort him and show support.

LVD Management Corporation, however, will continue to hone talents and the mission that Leo originally started. It will now operate under the leadership of Leo’s trusted partners Rey Lañada and Freddie Blasco.

Rest in peace, Sir Leo. You will be missed!
