Forever A Kapamilya: 14 Former and Current Employees Express Support For ABS-CBN

When NTC issued a cease and desist order against the media giant, people rallied online to show their support

Tuesday was a grim day for entertainment, press freedom, and people-oriented service. ABS-CBN Broadcast Corporation was issued a cease and desist order by the National Telecommunications Commission, and everything else after that—from the final sign-off to the bosses’ reassurances—happened so quickly, all in the span of a few hours. That evening’s broadcast of TV Patrol would be the network’s last for a while, and after playing the country’s national anthem, millions of television sets all across the Philippines went dark.

As current employees of the corporation grieve for what’s lost, those formerly employed by the network also joined in to offer their words of support, encouragement, and even lamentation. They may no longer be with ABS-CBN, but one thing is guaranteed: They will, forevermore, be a Kapamilya. Here are 16 of the most touching and emotional tributes to ABS-CBN, a place that many people will always call home.
