ArteFino 2018: Rosanna Ocampo, With Her Luxe RTW Tops, Creates Stories Through Color And Texture
"I was recently asked 'Why do you do what you do?' My work gives me a sense of purpose. The stories I create through color and texture bring me much to joy and I hope to translate this emotion to the people who wear it. I find fulfillment knowing I am able to promote and provide livelihood to fellow women who are likewise, proud of their roots and heritage," shares in-demand fashion designer Rosanna Ocampo-Rodriguez in an Instagram post that shows a photo of the hand of her head beader who was doing finishing touches for the collection she will showcase at the upcoming ArteFino fair this August 30 to September 2 in 8 Rockwell.

This year, Rosanna is marking her 10th anniversary in the local fashion industry, and what better way to celebrate this milestone than changing things up and presenting something new? A first-timer at ArteFino, her new collection is truly covetable, something that every discerning stylista would want to get their hands on.
Rosanna started out creating custom clothes, eventually becoming known for feminine and contemporary designs. Her creations are unique, luxurious, and tasteful—no wonder she has been a favorite of many of society's finest women. Three years ago, she expanded her business into RTW, making her brand more accessible.

As part of this expansion, Rosanna also started integrating local materials to her collections about a year ago, and she cannot be happier with how perfect they are for her aesthetic.
"With my aesthetic at least, I'm used to working with colors and I like layering things, so I found a way to inject my signature looks using local textile while supporting livelihood for these women which I really, really want to stand for," Rosanna told Metro.Style.

The Expedita top draws inspiration from the Barong Tagalog, an embroidered formal shirt that is considered the national dress of the Philippines. This was Rosanna Ocampo's interpretation of Modern Filipiniana, and she envisions this to be dressed up with a ball skirt or worn casually with jeans. "Our brand represents the contemporary woman who embraces her femininity and empowers others," Rosanna says.
Rosanna's efforts for supporting local craftsmanship are noteworthy. For several years now, she has been helping local seamstresses from Antipolo, Rizal to develop their talents. Looking at how exquisitely intricate her pieces are, it's evident how much she has helped them perfect the art of doing beadwork. Rosanna has also started collaborating with a group of women from Laguna, whose skills in working on appliqués she wants to hone. Aside from giving these women an opportunity to do something they love, Rosanna also gives them a source of livelihood.
It's fashion for a cause—what a way to celebrate a decade of pursuing one's passion, promoting local fashion, and championing innovation!
