Former Promil “gifted child” CJ de Silva-Ong, 36, passed away yesterday, June 18, 2024.

After suffering from two strokes, which were brought about by her brain aneurysm, her husband Wincy Ong confirmed the sad news via a Facebook post.

“She fought to the very end,” he shared in his statement. “She was a loving wife to me, a loving cat-mom to our cats Andres and Max, and a loving daughter to her parents and uncle. She was a passionate Executive Creative Director in the industry she loved so much—advertising.”

A visual artist and then-painting prodigy, CJ also served her purpose and helped people around her, according to Wincy.

“She used her talents in illustration and painting in championing causes close to heart,” he continued.

“From the many people who visited the hospital or sent in a message or two, I learned that CJ was a gift herself to the people who came to know her. Behind that tough and take-charge person you may know is such a sweet, caring girl.”

A graduate of University of the Philippines Diliman College of Fine Arts, CJ was an executive creative director for an advertising agency, a painter, and an illustrator. She illustrated the covers of the late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago’s best-selling books Stupid Is Forever and Stupid Is Forevermore which were published by ABS-CBN Publishing. She also had a podcast with Wincy called Telebabad Tapes.

CJ’s wake will be held at The Heritage Park in Taguig City from June 20 to 22. The cremation service, meanwhile, will take place on June 23.

“She always told me she’d wanted a funeral that was fun and not so serious,” Wincy concluded his post. “Let’s celebrate her 36 amazing years here on this planet by filling it with things that made her happy—music, conversations, coffee, and good food.”

CJ's absence leaves a void in the advertising world, a space where her bold ideas and infectious enthusiasm once thrived. We offer our deepest condolences to her loved ones.
