EXCLUSIVE: Newly-Engaged Couple Alert! Dani Barretto Talks About Her Fiancé Xavi Panlilio

"I have never been more certain, I will love you till we’re old," says lifestyle and travel vlogger, content creator, and influencer Dani Barretto in a previous Instagram post showing a photo of her and her partner, DJ and businessman Xavi Panlilio, against a beautiful sunset backdrop.

Dani and Xavi celebrated their first anniversary as a couple in September last year. A few months after, he decided to take their relationship to the next level, asking her to be his wife in a romantic proposal yesterday that was witnessed by their family and friends.

The proposal, which took place at Cornerstone Studios in Quezon City, was successfully executed by Xavi, who got some help from Dani's mom Marjorie Barretto; siblings Julia, Claudia, and Leon; and friends Erich Gonzales, Bela Padilla, Moira dela Torre, Jason Marvin Hernandez, Ejay Dimayacyac, Natasha Gerona, and Charisse Tinio of NicePrint (which documented all the heartwarming moments that day) in pulling off the surprise.

In an exclusive interview with Metro.Style, Dani shares how their love story began, what her mom thinks of her fiancé exactly, and how she envisions her wedding to be:

Where and how did you two meet?

"We met in Flotsam and Jetsam Hotel in La Union by chance. It was Bela Padilla’s birthday, and we decided to spend the weekend there. Bela and I kinda got tipsy, she got the mic and told everyone that I’m single. Haha! A couple of minutes after, a girl came up to me and said, 'You're single, right?' I said, 'Yeah, why?' She said, 'My friend really likes you and wants to meet you.' She shoved me inside the liquior cabinet of Flots and there Xavi was, trying to finish his DJ set. And to his surprise, I was there. We spoke for 15 minutes and then I left and joined Bela and I's friends. Four days after, I randomly checked my unread DMs and he DM-ed me. The rest is history." 

 

What was your first impression of him?

"Gentleman. He was very nice and kinda formal. Maybe he was just nervous."

 

What do you like most about him?

"He is the most loving and caring person I’ve ever met in my whole life. And I love that we’re always laughing."

Aside from his proposal, what is the next most romantic thing he has done for you?

"I went to El Nido for five days and I didn't get to swim 'cause it was that time of the month. I really felt so bad. When I got back from Palawan, he picked me up from Clark airport, and he said he has a surpise for me. He took me to Anvaya Cove in Subic so I can swim. He was still courting me then. It was so sweet." 

 

What does your mother think of him?

"My mom likes him. Xavi really  makes an effort when it comes to my family. He cooks for them, makes time for them, and talks to them. I can see that my mom is comfortable with him."

 

How did the proposal go?

"It was the most amazing feeling ever. I had no clue. All I knew is that I was supposed to be interviewed for Spring Films' 10th anniversary with Bela. And to my surprise, it was the proposal. It was just so magical."

 

How do you envision your wedding to be?

"Classy, elegant, intimate, and just magical."
