In Photos: The Filipino Athletes Who Won Gold At The 2019 SEA Games
When the Philippines promised to reclaim its place as the overall champ at the regional athletic competition, they delivered—and with a historic 149 golds, no less!
All 149 medals were earned with sweat, tears, and more.
The Filipino athletes who competed at the recently concluded 2019 SEA Games lived up to the competition's slogan "We Win As One," with many of those who made it to the podium dedicating their wins to their country, their families, and to the teams and supporters who cheered for them every step of the way.
All in all, gold medalists not only made the Philippines the country to come home with the most golds, but also helped beat our own record; in 2005, when the Philippines last hosted the SEA Games, Filipino athletes rounded up the competition with 113 golds.

Her male counterpart, Kevin Jeffrey Pascua who competed at the Obstacle Racing - Men's Individual 100m x 10 Obstacle event, was also a gold medalist.

Marly and her teammates Elvie Baldivino and Franchette Quiroz bagged more golds at the Shooting – Women's precision pistol competition team event.
Kristel Macrohon, Weightlifting – Women's 71-kg
Jearome Calica, Muaythai – Men's waikru
It wasn't only Jearome who bagged the gold at this sport; Joemar Gallaza also came out victorious and gave the Philippines its second in this event.

Margielyn Didal, Skateboarding – Women's game of skate and Skateboarding – Women's street

Samuel didn't win alone; he was with his relay-mate Princess Arbilon when they ended the event with top honors.

David William Pelino, Squash - Mixed Team
It was the trio of David William Pelino, Jemyca Aribado and Robert Garcia Reymark Begornia who brought home the gold, collectively.
Cris Nievarez, Rowing - Men's Lightweight Single Sculls
Joanie Delgaco, Rowing - Women's Lightweight Double Skulls
Joanie was one half of a tandem; her rowing partner Melcah Caballero contributed to this momentous win.

Junior Reyes, Taekwondo - Men's recognized poomsae

Athletes from the Philippine National Sailing Squad also won two gold medals for the Sailing and Sailing - Keelboat match racing events, while the Philippine Baseball Team finished with top honors as well as Esports players for Bang Bang and Dota 2, Carlo Peña in Ju-jitsu - Men's 56kg, and Dennis Orcollo in Billiards - Men's 10-ball pool singles.
