Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry Is In Manila For SC30 Asia Tour
Back in the Philippines, for Under Armour, it seems there was no escaping Golden State Warrior Stephen Curry as he made his rounds here in Manila. He first attended a press con at Kerry Sports in Shangri-La The Fort, then headed to the Mall of Asia, and back to BGC for a visit to the Under Armour store. It looked like many Manileños were ready to stalk the guy and just get close to the 3-Time NBA Champion and former MVP.

Thanks to AXA, who were giving away 100 tickets to the MOA event, I was appointed their Media Rep to the Shang press con, and got to see the mild-mannered, sweet side of this mucho caliente hoopster. Trying on the ube ice cream in his halo-halo for the first time, Steph was giving it his thumbs up as his mouth was full. And he gamely parried questions from the press—questions I’m certain he’s had to answer more than a zillion times.

What I find interesting is how he and LeBron James are now moving in parallel lines. If LeBron has his Springhill Entertainment that’s affiliated with Warner, it was interesting to note how a few months ago, Steph’s Unanimous Media tied up with Sony. As Unanimous’ CEO Jeron Smith has announced, the three cornerstones of Unanimous’ productions and content will revolve around sports, family, and faith. For Steph, this mirrors his own life and interests. And I was hoping to ask if he could elaborate more on how this output will be created, if particular projects are already in development. And who knows, is a move to Hollywood in the cards; should Clippers and Lakers fans start dreaming?

A few days ago, while watching the ongoing US Open for Tennis, Steph’s Warriors coach, Steve Kerr, compared Steph to Roger Federer—referring to how cool and composed they both were, and perfectionists in their game. I wondered how Steph felt about the comparison, and whether he had a favorite tennis player of his own. What the press has been more consistently reporting about is how much Steph loves the game of golf.
But the main thing is that one of the Splash Brothers has splashed down in Manila. To be frank, I root for the Spurs, but I totally respect Steph’s skill and talent, so to see him up close was a treat.
