Katarina Rodriguez Asks For Support, To Give The Philippines A Chance To Have Its First-Ever Miss Intercontinental Title

Katarina Rodriguez, the Philippines' representative at the Miss Intercontinental 2017 pageant, is currently in Egypt for the coronation night scheduled on January 24 (January 25, Manila time).

Ever since she left Manila last January 11, she has been updating her followers on each and every activity that is part of her Miss Intercontinental journey. As her Instagram posts show, the gorgeous beauty queen—who is likewise a successful ramp, commercial, and print model—is obviously having the time of her life, and the easy confidence she exudes every time proves just how big her chance of bagging the coveted title is.

As it seems, with her beauty and brains, Katarina has a big shot at winning. But popularity will also play a big factor in the pageant. Last January 14, a new voting mechanic was announced. Miss Intercontinental launched an online voting poll for "Miss Sunrise Resorts 2017," wherein the winner of the award will automatically advance to the Top 6 of the competition.

However, those who wanted to vote for Katarina apparently had a hard time doing so due to some technical issues. This prompted Katarina to post on Instagram, asking for patience for people to "not give up hope on me or Miss Intercontinental."

Pilipinas! ???????????? Philippines! I know that the voting has not been working and for me specifically, but please do not give up hope on me or Miss Intercontinental. Instead just pray to Papa Jesus that I win what I came here for, the crown. I know everyone wants to vote and is frustrated that they cannot vote, but let us remember by grace through faith and that being negative no matter how heavy a feeling we have will help us triumph. Please pray with me and I will do my best here to perform for you, our country and God. Thank you so much for your passion, but let us keep positive. With all the gratitude in this universe, thank you. ???? ?????? #MissIntercontinental #MissIntercontinental2017 #MIO2017 #TheMostBeautifulWomenOfAllContinents #Egypt #SUNRISEResorts #SUNRISECrystalBay #SUNRISEMeetsBeauty #KatareynaMIO2017

The Philippines hasn't bagged a Miss Intercontinental title yet, so Katarina is hoping that she will be the one to finally give the country that honor. Our representative at the Miss Intercontinental 2016, Jennifer Hammond, made it to the Top 15 of the competition.

To vote for Katarina, netizens just have to go to and select her and two other contestants for their votes to count. Voting ends on January 23, 9 p.m. (Egypt time, around 3 a.m. of January 24 in Manila).

The blog The Great Pageant Community is also holding a separate online poll, and the winner of the TGPC’s People’s Choice award will automatically advance to the semifinals. Netizens can vote unlimited number of times, but the poll will close on the midnight of January 23 Indian Standard Time (PH Standard Time is 2.5 hours ahead of IST).  The link for voting in TGPC’s People’s Choice is

As of this writing, Katarina is on the Top 3 for the "Miss Sunrise Resorts 2017" award, with Alicia Beverly Weley of Indonesia on 2nd place and Lee Su Jin of Korea on the top spot.
