Where It All Began: Meghan Markle Supports Prince Harry At The Event Where They First Went Public—And Looked Absolutely Stylish While She Was At It!
The Duchess of Sussex was spotted cheering her husband on at the Audi Polo Challenge 2018—the annual event where this young couple first made their relationship known to the world.
A little over a year ago, Meghan and Prince Harry's followers fawned all over them as they let everyone know, without the need for words, that things were getting serious. The actress didn't shy away from showing affection towards the her then boyfriend, who, breaking royal protocol, also returned her sweetness with his own loving gestures at the polo event's 2017 edition.
Without a doubt, their appearance at the springtime event was when everyone knew that they were in love.
Returning to their relationship's roots, Meghan showed up at the charity polo match staged at Coworth Park Polo Club in Ascot, this time, as Prince Harry's wife.
Observers were quick to note that Meghan continued to be supportive of her new husband and was living up to her reputation of being a true modern royal; rather than enjoy the match from the comforts of the shaded viewing dock, the 36-year-old mingled with A-list guests in the sun and was even seen tossing a stray polo ball back to the players in action.
Many also admired her for keeping one of the event's younger guests in good spirits. The little girl appeared to be in an unpleasant mood, sporting a scowl and refusing to socialize. Meghan was seen approaching her then leaning over to her, perhaps to offer a few comforting words in an attempt to turn the little one's day around.
Meghan's signature relatability and approachability weren't the only things people took note of: as expected, her ensemble was a point of interest, and it didn't disappoint!
The ex-actress gave her admirers a taste of laidback California style while keeping her look polished as a new royal.
She caught attention in a breezy mid-calf number by Shoshanna Ashland that was perfect for a British summer. The sand and white checkered gingham sleeveless sundress was accessorized with a dainty front ribbon, while eyelet details at its hemline gave it character.
To complete the outfit, Meghan wore her favorite white Madewell x Biltmore Panama hat with a black band, sunglasses, and brown leather Grear tie-up sandals by Sarah Flint. (Her dress, which was originally sold on Neiman Marcus, has been sold out).
Meghan's fashion choices for the event were in line with her commitment to supporting brands by female designers, or those whose creative directors or top execs are women.
The Audi Polo Challenge is one of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's many summer events lined up. She was joined by good friend and tennis player Serena Williams and her husband, businessman Alexis Ohanian. Other celebrities present at the event were Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming), Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger), and Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire). Likewise, the Duke of Cambridge was also at the match and participated in games alongside his brother, but was not joined by his wife Kate Middleton.
