In time for Women’s Month, Metro Society presents its "Heritage Issue," which celebrates the woman—past, present, and future. Gracing the cover is Sofia Zobel-Elizalde, who artfully choreographed and directed a photoshoot to remember, one that would perfectly commemorate 25 years of Steps Dance Studio. In this special story, Sofia gets candid about the history and beginnings of her passion for dance, but beyond just telling a story, she showed us—through the magic of movement and with the help of her most gifted dancers: Paloma Laforteza, Maisie Marie Briones, Nicole Andrea Sison, Blanche Cielo Inday, Anna Isabelle Huang, Ghian Renzen Arboleda, Joervy Sanchez, Niccolo Laforteza, and Daniel Laganzo. Stylelist Inc. dressed the female ballet dancers in long, flowy frocks from Hannah Kong and Debbie Ko, while the men wore linen tops from Rustan’s. It was a true privilege for the editorial team to work closely on this project with Sofia and her team, which included Angie Cervantes, James Laforteza, and Jeffrey Floyd Espejo of Steps, and photographer Jojo Mamangun, who is a dancer himself. He was able to capture the movement of the dancers so beautifully. It was a perfect team for this special shoot that celebrates a milestone for Steps, and ultimately, a milestone for this month’s cover star.

Succeeding the cover story is a heartwarming feature on mothers and daughters. We have the sincere pleasure of having five mother-daughter tandems who share their experiences of motherhood in all its beauty and magic. Meet the inspiring mothers who have raised generations of strong women: Linda Lagdameo, Baby Gaisano, Cecilia Schulze, Gigi Calero, and Becky Aranaz, as they reveal decades’ worth of family stories and anecdotes, cherished moments and experiences, and show Metro Society that while motherhood can be one hell of a ride, it is one of life’s most thrilling and rewarding ones.

Also in this release, wine and dine on Argentinean fare at La Cabrera as the franchise opens its second outlet in the Philippines at EDSA Shangri-La, then drive over to the Entertainment City to tip a few at the newest best-kept secret: the Solaire Cigar Bar and Poker Room. Then head over to Artemis, Tania Fricke-Lichauco’s new store, and sit down with her and her mother, Babygirl Fricke, who reflect on and celebrate the closeness and bond they have shared through the years.

For a summer fashion update, look no further than the magazine’s main fashion sections featuring Loewe and Off-White’s SS19 collections shot by none other than Paolo Pineda. Looking for some new items to refresh the home? Look no further than the Shopping feature on Kassa by Karen Santos, whose new shop in Pinagkaisahan has the perfect palette of vintage, modern furniture, and home accessories. Afterwards, jet off with EIC Raul Manzano to New Zealand, and get a dose of extreme adventure and sport capped with delicious food and fantastic local wine tastings. Then, finally, close this month’s celebration of women with a wonderfully written and honest feature by our Mr. Manners, Monchet Olives, on the beautiful women who have shaped him in his life.
