#MetroSocietyBestDressedMen – Piolo Pascual Shares His Practical Shopping Tips

When you’re Piolo Pascual, dressing up is both an easy task and a mindful process. He knows that as an A-list celebrity, “Your style is your brand; and who you are, how you project yourself, is your brand.”

Piolo shares his love for jackets, saying, “I love layering because I get cold easily. I’m a jacket person, but since we don’t have seasons here in the Philippines, I get to shop for them abroad. Whenever I travel, I try to go to local stores, talk to owners, and they bring out what they have.”

He frequents select shops in New York and Amsterdam, emailing them ahead of time so that they could pull items for him when he gets there. One wonders if the stores that Piolo frequents abroad know that he’s a household name in the Philippines, but Piolo simply smiles at the thought and replies, “They look me up, probably Google me, and they tell me, ‘This is the kind of dresser you are, so this is what we have for you.’ They’ve described my style as very urban, urban hip, bordering on safe. Practical and casual.”

“We don't need convincing that Piolo knows how to rock every outfit he puts on, what with that charming demeanor and confidence, to boot!” – Kate Paras, fashion editor of Metro titles and editor-in-chief of Metro Weddings

While he may be a practical shopper, he’s not averse to the idea of splurging on a piece or two once in a while. “I’m not an impulse shopper, I do like indulging sometimes. I’m wise with my spending—it’s still hard-earned money, so you have to be practical. I end up bargaining with myself whether I should get something or not. But, you have to reward yourself—it’s not going to cost you an arm and a leg anyway, so why not make yourself feel good and special?”

Piolo is also known for his fit physique, and he’s looking leaner and better than ever before. Raul Manzano, editor-in-chief of Metro Society and host of Metro Channel show EIC on The Move, says, “Piolo is unaffected by the years; he can still pull off the pieces he’s had in his wardrobe for decades. And he’s stayed classic all these years.”

“I still have all the clothes I used to have when I was in my 20s, they all still fit me, and so I’m glad I still get to wear everything,” Piolo reveals. “I’m less bulky now, so I get to wear some of the pieces that used to be too tight on me. I like to take care of myself so that I can look good and feel comfortable in whatever I’m wearing.”
