Transcript: Miss Universe 2023 Top 3 Q&A
The beauty queens were asked to name a woman whose life they want to live for a year
The Top 3 Miss Universe 2023 candidates went through a final round of Q&A before the winner is announced. Here’s how each of them responded to the question, “If you could live one year in another woman’s shoes, who would you choose and why?”
Miss Universe Thailand Anntonia Porslid
“I would choose Malala Yousafzai because I know the struggle she had to deal with to get to where she is today. She had to fight for women’s education and fight for all women to be able to stand strong and be the change and lead by example. If I could choose anyone, it would be her.”
Miss Universe Australia Monique Riley
“I would live my mother’s year, my mother’s birth year because she’s a very strong woman. She’s tough. She’s taught me how to work hard, she’s taught me how to be brave, how to be strong, and I’m forever grateful for those lessons she taught me.”
Miss Universe Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios
“I would choose Mary Wollstonecraft because she opened the gap and gave the opportunity to many women. And what I would do, I would want that gap, that income gap, to be opened so women could work in any area that they choose to work in because there are no limitations for women. That was 1750, now in 2023, we’re making history.”
Ultimately, Miss Universe Australia Monique Riley was crowned Second Runner-Up, Miss Universe Thailand Anntonia Porslid First Runner-Up, and Miss Nicaraga Sheynnis Palacios the 72nd Miss Universe winner. Sheynnis Palacios, the first Miss Universe titleholder from Nicaragua, succeeds Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel,
