Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Preliminary Interviews: "In Whose Eyes Are You Beautiful?"
Here's the full transcript of the delegates' answers to the question: "If beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, in whose eyes are you beautiful?"
Miss Universe Philippines 2021’s nerve-racking Preliminary Interview round is over; it was live-streamed on KTX on September 24. The delegates are a step closer to the coronation night that’s scheduled to take place in the province of Bohol on September 30.
After modeling their national costumes, the delegates’ wisdom, spontaneity, and grace under pressure were then showcased at the preliminary interviews that had each of them answering five questions一one of which was courtesy of a pageant sponsor, Lazada.
The people behind the organization and the panel of judges first asked them the following questions: 1) What’s the most important lesson you learned in the past week?; 2) If beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, in whose eyes are you beautiful?; 3) If we truly learn from our mistakes, would you advise a young person to keep making them?; 4) If you have the power to do ONE of the following一eliminate poverty or hunger, a government with no graft and corruption, or solve all environmental problems一which would you choose?; and 5) If you were to add to cart one item to buy on Lazada to send to all Filipinos to help inspire them during this time, what would it be and why?
Check out the gallery below to read what the remaining 28 delegates answered to the question “If beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, in whose eyes are you beautiful?”

Janela Joy Cuaton - Albay
"For me, it would have to be my mom. She’s always seen me as a woman who’s strong, courageous, and beautiful. And I know she’s proud of me for taking on my dream of becoming Miss Universe Philippines, and I know that in the future, when I become a mother as well, I will be proud of myself."
Mirjan S. Hipolito - Angeles City
"In whose eyes am I beautiful? I’m beautiful with, in my own eyes, you know. It’s very important that you have a very strong constitution within yourself, that whatever standard that you have set for yourself, you’re confident. And when you’re confident, you’re secured about your abilities and it is only when you’re secure that you will be able to impact others positively."
Simone Nadine Bornilla - Marinduque
"I think to my parents’ and that’s the one thing I'm most proud of. Ever since I was younger, they’ve reminded me again and again that I was beautiful for them and that was the only thing that I needed to keep my confidence up, because growing up, I was a very insecure child."
Kirsten Danielle Delavin - Masbate
"In my own eyes. I always make sure that everyday when I go out, when I’m doing my own makeup, that my standard of beauty is myself. We all have our preferences on what’s beautiful but I think that I am beautiful because I am me. And I think that if I could show a girl that she can feel like that as well, that’s something that I would be proud of for the rest of my life."
Maureen Christa Wroblewitz - Pangasinan
"In my own eyes. I think that’s the most important, to be beautiful when you look at yourself in the mirror. And that’s why I have learned the importance of self-love and through self-love, I have learned to embrace every part of me, good or bad, and that is what I have learned is the most important thing."
Rousanne Marie Bernos - San Juan City
"I think I am most beautiful in my own eyes because only I get to see the fullness of Ayn Bernos, you know, my lows, my highs. And I think through it all, I’ve really proven to myself that I’ve owned my beauty, and I’ve learned to embrace that kind of beauty. And I think I can say to myself that I am beautiful."
Katrina Dimaranan - Taguig
"I think in God’s eyes一actually, I know in God’s eyes.’Cause I have always been very close with my God and since I was a kid, I understand and even throughout my life, I’ve always believed that God is the only person who is able to judge us and He is the only person who’s able to criticize or help us and guide us, so it would be in God’s eyes that I am beautiful."
Grace Charmaine Banua Vendiola - Negros Oriental
"It will always be with my grandmother’s eyes. She’s always the woman who sees the beauty in me, like no matter what I go through, what I’ve... all the things that I’ve done in the past, whether I see it as a mistake or something else, she always sees the beauty in it and she would always tell me that no matter what mistake you do or whatever you went through in life, as long as it serves you a lesson, see the good side of it."
Vincy Labadan Vacalares - Cagayan de Oro City
"I believe I am beautiful in the eyes of my mother who bore me into this world. And with that eyes, I can also say that I am truly loved and well taken cared of and I am just so proud that I am her child, one of her child who is right now in this most prestigious event, pageant of, in the country. So, mommy, I hope you are proud of me right now."
Chella Grace Falconer - Misamis Oriental
"I believe that I am beautiful in the eyes of God. He has loved us so much that He even gave up His only son in order for us to be free, to be saved. And I think that everyone is beautiful in the eyes of our Creator. And I myself, I see beauty as not only something that is seen physically but it’s what most people do not see. It is in the heart and it is in our soul, and I believe that I am beautiful to Him."
Michele Angela Navarro Okol - Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte
"In whose eyes? Well, mine! I think that the best reflection of beauty is how you see yourself. It doesn’t really matter what other people say about you as long as you’re sure that you’re confident in how you bring yourself out. Because for me, physical beauty isn’t what defines beauty. It’s the kindness and the kind of person we are that we radiate from within."
What’s next for the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant is the Preliminary Swimsuit and Evening Gown Competitions happening tomorrow, September 26.
The Miss Universe Philippines 2021 coronation night will take place on September 30.
