The much-awaited grand coronation night of the Miss Universe Philippines 2023 is almost here. 38 delegates are competing for the crown and one will take home the title tonight, May 13, 2023, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Manila.


History is etched as this year’s event champions a more progressive and inclusive pageant. The Miss Universe Philippines Organization is marking its first ever edition where it furthers the eligibility for its contenders, embracing married women and mothers in the contest. This 2023, the competition is ushering in a new and unique era where barriers are being broken and stigmas are being stomped on.


Last Wednesday, May 10, the delegates spent the day with preliminary activities and panel interviews in which introductions were made by the beauty mavens. Following this, a pre-pageant function was staged where the aspiring successors showcased their gowns and swimsuits. Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi will crown the new queen.



Prior to the finals, the pageant held a host of challenges for the MUPh competitors such as the photoshoot, swimsuit, and runway challenges. Recently, the winning names for the National Costume Competition were also announced. The winners are Kimberly Escartin of Southern Leyte (3rd Place), Joemay Leo of Benguet (2nd Place), and Airissh Ramos of Eastern Samar (1st Place).

Hosted by local showbiz's top leading men Xian Lim and Alden Richards, Miss Universe Philippines 2023 will be streamed live from 7:00 P.M. on ABS-CBN Entertainment on YouTube, iWantTFC, and TFC.


The evening opened as expected. The Miss Universe Philippines 2023 contestants commenced with a bang—bringing their A game and acing the stage with their stunning beauty and bold confidence as they strive for the crown. Hosts Xian and Alden, backstage hosts Tim Yap and Maureen Montagne (Miss Globe 2021), and special host of the show Zozibini Tunzi (Miss Universe 2019) were also introduced after.


Special awards were also awarded to Shayne Glenmae Maquiran from Capiz (Miss Friendship) Jannarie Zarzoso from Agusan Del Norte (Face of Social Media and Glam Shot Challenge winner), Pauline Amelinckx from Bohol (Swimsuit Challenge winner), Angelique Manto from Pampanga (Runway Challenge winner), and Princess Anne Marcos from Bulacan (Smilee Casting Fan Vote winner).


The Top 18 were announced shortly after:

9. Iman Franchesca Cristal from Mandaluyong

10. Jan Marie Bordon from Bacolod

11. Emmanuelle Vera from Cebu Province

12. Christine Salcedo from Marinduque

13. Christine Opiaza from Zambales

14. Samantha Panlilio from Cavite

15. Klyza Ferrando Castro from Davao Oriental (Mati City)

16. Krishnah Marie Gravidez from Baguio

17. Kimberlyn Acob from Isabela

18. Princess Anne Marcos from Bulacan


Each has strutted on the runway and showcased their elegance in the Swimsuit round. The Best in Swimsuit accolade went to Krishnah Marie Gravidez from Baguio. From a pool of 18 candidates, the pageant narrowed down the delegates to 10.


Those who are named will step forward to slay in the Evening Gown segment. Among the Miss Universe Philippines 2023 aspirants, the Best in Evening Gown award was bestowed to Michelle Marquez Dee from Makati.

10. Samantha Panlilio from Cavite


Due to “technical difficulties,” though, Miss Universe Philippines had to disregard the previous Top 10 results and proceed with the Top 18 for the Evening Gown.


After a show-stopping performance from singer and American Idol Season 11 Runner-up Jessica Sanchez, National Director Shamcey Supsup-Lee shared an inspiring speech. Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel graced the stage as well. Her speech is a great reminder for women who rise above and beyond. Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran-Floirendo is also present at the pageant.

Following the thrilling two-part Q&A portion of the Final 5, Celeste Cortesi concluded her reign as Miss Universe Philippines. The final results were released and the new Miss Universe Philippines 2023 titleholders were named: Angelique Manto from Pampanga (2nd Runner-Up); Christine Opiaza from Zambales (1st Runner-Up); and Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Marquez Dee from Makati.
