The Philippine fashion, beauty, and entertainment industries are mourning the death of veteran celebrity photographer Raymund Isaac. He passed away at the age of 59 on September 4 in San Francisco, California after battling COVID-19.
In a Facebook post last July 24, Raymund Isaac asked for prayers, as he was rushed to a hospital in San Francisco due to lack of oxygen. He wrote, "I am alone here in the hospital due to Covid rules. It's scary to be in a place where you don't know anyone. Include me please in your prayers."
His partner, Jayson Vicente, was constantly updating their Facebook friends about the condition of Raymund. Last August 28, Jayson shared that Raymund was stable but that he remained intubated and sedated in the ICU.
Sadly, just a week after, the well-loved lensman passed away, as confirmed by his brother Edward Isaac on social media: "To those who prayed with us in different parts of the world for Raymund, thank you. He will be missed by many, most of our family and those he touched."
Jayson also posted a tribute on Instagram to his "beloved husband" who's now his "guardian angel."
Raymund Isaac was not only a photographer, he was also an author, livestream producer/host, and artist. He was well-loved by celebrities, clients, and his colleagues not just for his talent but also for his professionalism, kindness, generosity, and vibrant personality. He was a professional photographer for almost four decades, renowned and well respected in the field. He started out with fashion editorials then he branched out to beauty and advertising. Because he worked with countless showbiz personalities, he was eventually known as a celebrity photographer.
In April of last year, in the middle of the pandemic, the multifaceted Raymund started a series of "Quarantine Chikahan" on his YouTube channel, wherein he caught up with his celebrity and industry friends, and had fun, deep, and meaningful conversations with them about a wide array of topics. His guests on this online show included Carmina and Zoren Legaspi, Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, Luis Manzano, Lea Salonga, Piolo Pascual, Gary Valenciano, Agot Isidro, Karen Davila, Boy Abunda, Korina Sanchez, Heart Evangelista, and Pia Wurtzbach.
An offshoot of this show is the "Midnight Snack," produced by Raymund and actress Janice de Belen. The goal of this show and podcast is "para magpasaya, at magkwentuhan, habang kumain ng kanilang mga Midnight Snacks."
The last post on his YouTube channel was a livestreamed "Midnight Snack" episode last July 4 with Janice.
With the news of Raymund Isaac's passing, online tributes for him poured in from celebrities and those he worked with, remembering his work, his life, and the friendships he built through the years. See some of these tributes below:
