Reflecting on her path, Carell shares her fulfillment in getting to where she is today, feeling content in her journey's progression.
Navigating the challenges of building her network, Carell recalls the initial hurdles of gaining clients' trust, often requiring validation through diplomas. However, with the rise of digital platforms like YouTube and TikTok, she witnessed a shift in client perception, facilitating smoother interactions.
“At least medyo natanggal 'yung trust issues nila. So ngayon, marami nang platforms. P'wede kaming mag-post… tapos ma-hire kami,” she commented. Embracing the evolving landscape, Carell finds solace in the exchange of fresh ideas with the younger generation, viewing it as a collaborative advantage rather than competition.
Committed to honing her craft, Carell pursued formal training at the Makeup Design Academy and sought mentorship from renowned artists like Mario, Kim Kardashian's makeup artist, and Nongchat, a celebrity makeup artist from Thailand. “Never stop learning talaga for me. Parang 'yun 'yung goal,” she added. Guided by this philosophy, she adapts her skills to match evolving beauty trends, ensuring she remains at the forefront of her industry.
In her teenage years, Carell found that she admires the fresh and timeless beauty of Korean and Japanese aesthetics. She particularly appreciates the effortless charm of Korean blush techniques and the subtle yet impactful use of color in Japanese makeup.
Throughout her journey, Carell also drew inspiration from iconic figures like Fanny Serrano, whose timeless techniques continue to influence her work. She also respects the aesthetic prowess of Patrick Ta, particularly his ability to craft versatile looks that seamlessly transition from red carpet glamour to everyday elegance.
Executing the concept of timeless beauty, Carell aims to achieve a minimalist yet radiant look that enhances her clients' natural features. “I like to achieve 'yung timeless look… Parang 'yun 'yung gusto kong branding for the rest of my life,” she remarked. She views this approach as her enduring brand identity, rooted in the belief that beauty should be both effortless and classic.
Reflecting on her achievements, Carell's journey has been marked by learning new techniques and highlighting natural beauty, a milestone she treasures amidst the challenges of mastering no-makeup makeup looks. She also considers handling the girl group BINI as a noteworthy accomplishment. Overcoming the challenge of defining their unique identity, she celebrates her ability to adapt and thrive in diverse creative environments, showcasing her versatility and expertise.
This year, she took on a new role for the Star Magical Prom, infusing her magical touch to create enchanting looks for some of the event's attendees. Transitioning from behind the scenes to the forefront as one of the "Fairy Glam Masters" at the Star Magical Prom, Carell initially felt nervous but ultimately maximized the opportunity to showcase her work alongside industry peers, renowned fashion stylists Myrrh Lao To and Patty Yap and fellow makeup artist Muriel Vega Perez. “Parang 'yung creative juices nila, na-she-share nila with me,” she said. Grateful for the recognition of her efforts, she values the collaborative spirit and creative synergy fostered by the experience.
For this year's Star Magic Prom, Carell aimed to push beyond her comfort zone, incorporating bold colors and glittering accents to complement the event's theme. Inspired by the vibrancy of youth, she wanted to empower her clients with transformative looks that fit the occasion.
For the Star Magical Fairy Tale Night, Carell was the makeup artist of Star Magic Freshies Jana Agoncillo, Marc Santiago, Hannah Vito, and Andrez del Rosario, as well as artists Krystal Brimner and Ashley del Mundo.
