Carmona expresses, “Through the years, Filipino style has become global. We have successfully made it to the world stage, proving that our designs are growing and ever-evolving.”

“BYS Fashion Week is, at its core, a homage to Filipino creativity,” says Lapeña. “And I couldn’t be prouder to be part of its second edition this year.”

Elmer Lapeña is no stranger to the grandeur of BYS Fashion Week 2023 as he previously played a pivotal role as one of the directors during last year’s edition. He will commence the 4-day extravaganza that highlights the artistic presentations of Rafa Worldwide, ANTONINA, ḢA.MÜ and Randolf for Day 1, following an additional collaboration with Vin Orias of Orias Studios to create a dynamic fashion experience for Day 3. 

With a remarkable two-decade tenure in the Philippine events industry, Lapeña initially began his career as the Stage Manager under the mentorship of SAGA’s founder, Robby Carmona. Over time, he carved his own path, ascending to the prestigious position of SAGA's esteemed Event Director, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. 

What sets him apart is his unwavering commitment to offering his creative talents and professional expertise has firmly made him an integral part of the dynamic event for 2 consecutive rows. He applauds the convergence of diverse Filipino talents and cherishes the mosaic of artistic voices that ultimately shapes the 4-day exclusive event.

In the same light, Robby Carmona's involvement in curating the special immersive showcase for Cheetah Rivera's 10-year anniversary on Day 3 underscores his unwavering passion and dedication. Carmona is the founder of SAGA, the 360 Experiential Company known to deliver unforgettable events and extraordinary experiences. He continues to hold the prestigious position of fashion director and producer of choice for Manila’s top designers and luxury brands. His enduring influence serves as a beacon that inspires the new generation of event creatives while setting industry standards both on and off the stage.

Carmona's role in curating the immersive showcase for Cheetah Rivera's milestone celebration underscores his profound influence in the fashion industry. His creative direction for this special event reflects his dedication to pushing the boundaries of homegrown creativity and talent. Carmona emphasizes, “BYS Fashion Week is not just a week-long fashion show, it is a next-level celebration of homegrown creativity and talent where we can peek into the future of Filipino fashion.”

“As a creative, what BYS is doing really resonates with me personally. It’s so exciting to see such a diverse group of young Filipino talents with different creative perspectives coming together to create art that expresses their different points of view,” Lapeña comments.

Aquino agrees, “After more than 30 years in the industry, I am so blessed to experience and be challenged by a new generation of fashion innovators who continue to surprise everyone with fresh and creative ways of staging shows.”

Jackie Aquino, the founder and director of JCA Productions, takes the reigns of creative direction for Day 2 with Neric Beltran and Chris Nick and on Day 4 with Vania Romoff. He built JCA Productions in 1984 and has been a prominent figure in the industry for over three decades. His expertise lies in crafting and orchestrating live events, leveraging a dedicated team of designers, coordinators, engineers, scriptwriters, and stylists who are deeply involved in the conceptualization and execution of each project. He and his team have successfully managed events for Gucci, Miss Universe, Zara, The Peninsula Manila, H&M, Hermes, Ayala Malls, Bulgari, and Philippine Airlines.

He further describes, “I was inspired by the creative teams of BYS and Konzept to recreate and interpret on the runway the vision of the designers (Neric Beltran, Chris Nick, and Vania Romoff). It is an immersive experience that was part of a collective journey that I am so proud to be [a] part of.”

Aquino characterizes his style as straightforward, orchestrating mesmerizing showcases and unforgettable runway experiences with precision and flair without unnecessary saturation. His vision and approach for the BYS runway create a sense of familiarity. As his talents and passion have flourished over the years, he adeptly tailors each stage of his work to align with the unique personalities and talents of his clients, resulting in a creative vision that is never the same idea twice. The constant evolution of his artistic abilities is a testament to his unending sense of wonder and his perpetual enthusiasm for learning remains fresh.

“Staging fashion shows and events take a village,” Lapeña adds. “There are so many moving parts, and there’s a need for different skills and specializations, so even the very idea of mounting a show is very much in line with BYS’ theme of promoting diversity and finding the common thread that binds these different artists.”
