5 Life, Self-Love, And Sisterhood Lessons From Vern And Verniece Enciso
Sisters and entrepreneur/influencer duo Vern and Verniece Enciso share how they’ve learned to become stronger, rise through challenges, and strive to become healthier with each other's help
They say having a sister whose age is so close to you can be both a blessing and a curse. She can be your best friend or your worst enemy. You love and fight with her the most, and you are each other’s best and worst critic.
But at the end of the day, one thing is for sure: you are lucky to have someone you can depend on when life gets tough.
Tricia Centenera sat down with sisters and entrepreneur/blogger duo Vern and Verniece Enciso for an episode of Talk with Tricia to share their thoughts on sisterhood and self-love. They talked about some of the most valuable life lessons they learned from each other, which other people can be inspired by as well.
At the end of the day, all the affirmations that you need is really just from yourself
Vern and Vernice''s relationship wasn't as tight-knit as it is now. The sisters only started to become really close after Verniece helped Vern cope with a break-up from a long-time relationship back in college.
Vern reveals that since she has always been in relationships, she always valued herself only as much as her partner valued her. But after the break-up, Verniece finally made Vern understand that the person who should love and value her the most is herself.
You can fight with your sister, but never let it get between you two
Vern and Verniece admit that their closeness is also a result of a lot of fights. It’s a classic problem between two sisters. Conflicts are unavoidable. But as they realized they like different things and are aiming for different paths, what followed is acceptance of the fact that that’s really how people are: different.
It’s okay to fight with your sister, but never let it get too bad it creates an irreparable damage in your relationship. Remember you love her no matter what, and always go back to that, especially if something or someone gets in between you two.
Be strong. The most important relationship is the one that you see in the mirror
Growing up, Verniece was bullied by her friends. And because she still wasn’t as close to Vern then as she is today, she learned how to fend for herself and be a strong, independent woman early on.
Vern says she feels lucky that her sister helped her become strong as well through leading by example. Taking care of yourself and looking out for yourself are things that may be hard to do, but when you see your sister accomplish these things, you get inspired and motivated to be a better, and eventually the best, version of yourself.
Take care of your health and what’s inside
Many girls nowadays get obsessed with how beautiful they look outside. As influencers, Vern and Verniece are also very much into dressing up and getting made up. But beyond that, they also know it's very important to take care of what’s inside: one's health and well-being.
Vern shares that she and her sister lost a dear friend to a disease recently. This has opened their eyes to the reality that the same could happen to anyone, too. That’s why they make sure they observe good eating and exercise habits to protect themselves. Since Verniece was an athlete, she also inspires Vern to be more active and disciplined when it comes to her body and health.
Use your influence to bring about a positive change in the society
As influencers and bloggers, Vern and Verniece understand that young girls nowadays gain access to so much information online at such a young age. They're aware that their roles as social media personalities can help shape people's opinions and beliefs. That’s why they promised to use their platforms to spread positivity, especially when it comes to body acceptance and state of mind.
