When people talk about Taiwan, what often comes to mind immediately are Taipei 101, bubble tea, beef noodle soup, Jiufen, or Meteor Garden. Drawing from these keywords, it’s easy to paint a picture of this well-loved destination, a place that has a bit of everything: modern breakthroughs, natural wonders, cultural icons, and F&B marvels.

If it’s your first time in Taiwan, staples in the itinerary include the abovementioned Taipei 101 (an iconic landmark that held the title of the world’s tallest building from 2004 to 2010) and Jiufen (what used to be a gold-mining hub is now known as a charming mountain town with narrow, lantern-lit alleyways that are home to traditional teahouses). Ximending, with its youthful and hip vibe, is not to be missed for its trendy fashion and novelty stores—the perfect place to buy souvenirs.

If you are staying in Taiwan longer than the usual three-day, two-night trip, or plan to visit Taiwan again, we have the ideal places to check out, whether you’re traveling solo or with family and friends.

Before we break down the itinerary of my recent Taiwan trip, let me just share that we flew to our destination via EVA Air at the Clark International Airport, where a Klook Kiosk just opened. Located in the pre-departure area, this new space is designed to be a go-to spot for last-minute travel needs—from booking activities and getting on-the-spot assistance, to enjoying exclusive promo codes for both domestic and international destinations. Travelers are welcome to lounge and relax here before their flights; it’s open daily from 7 AM to 5 PM until November 2026.

Most of the places and activities in our trip were booked via Klook, making the overall experience easier and hassle-free. To ensure a smooth-sailing trip from the moment we landed, our private airport transfer was also booked via this leading online travel platform.

With everything taken care of, all that was left to do was unpack and gear up for the adventures ahead.

Where it’s located: 46 Kunmin St., Wanhua Dist.

What I loved about it: This boutique hotel—with its striking facadé featuring a whale mural—is located in Taipei’s vibrant Ximending district. Its industrial chic interior is charming and inviting. I loved lounging by its library-themed lobby, decorated with cool vintage and retro accents. The complimentary breakfast is served at the adjacent Takao Restaurant, which offers a hotpot option.

Where it’s located: 2F, No.55, Section 1, Zhonghua Rd, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City

What I loved about it: I think a trip to Taiwan is incomplete without a hot pot experience. We set the tone of our trip with a satisfying dinner at Wulao, whose signature broths are rich and savory and are enjoyed best with their smooth Ice cream tofu. The meat quality is great, and make sure to order the assorted meatball plate, too!

Taichung Tour by Route Tour

Taichung is Taiwan’s second-largest city. As compared to Taipei, it offers a more relaxed environment that brings people closer to nature. It’s about two hours away from Taipei by car. Aside from breathtaking scenery, Taichung also has a reputation as a cultural and artistic hub.

On our itinerary at Taichung were the Zhongshe Flower Market, the original store of Chun Shui Tang, dessert haven Miyahara, ice cream parlor Fourth Credit Union, mural-filled Rainbow Village, and the ecological reserve Gaomei Wetlands.
