Small Laude and Son Timmy Find New Treats in Singapore

'It’s A Small World' takes you on an adventure in the Lion City, uncovering the latest hotspots and activities—from a creepy death museum and an open-air panoramic ride to cool Vespa tours and more!

Whether you’re feeling like getting a taste of heaven or exploring the courts of "hell” (so to speak!)—or simply jonesing for a little adventure somewhere not too far away—a trip to Singapore is exactly what you need. Just ask online sensation and socialite Small Laude, who discovers new treats and thrills in the Lion City in the latest installment of her show, It’s A Small World, in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board.

For the first episode of this three-part series, Small is joined by son Timothy, a.k.a. Timmy, whom she calls an adventure lover just like herself. Arm in arm, they explore SG’s hottest destinations, veering away from the usual tourist spots and serving up fresh experiences—even for those who’ve been to the country before.

Here’s your cheat sheet to their fun and adventure-packed itinerary, made for creating epic travel memories with family and friends:

Hell’s Museum in Haw Par Villa

Their first stop? An attraction that’s not for the faint of heart. Located within Haw Par Villa, a famous cultural park rooted in Chinese folklore, is the world’s first museum on death and afterlife: Hell’s Museum.

You’re in for a chilling journey as you step into this exhibit featuring eerie displays and dioramas depicting the consequences of good and bad deeds—a creative peek into the so-called afterlife. You’ll meet quirky underworld characters, learn about ancient beliefs revolving around death and dying, and gain a deeper understanding of the infamous 10 courts of hell. Creepy? Yes. Cool? Definitely.

To say that this version of Hell promises an unforgettable experience would be an understatement. “This museum is anything but ordinary,” says Small.

HyperDrive at The Palawan at Sentosa

If you’ve got a need for speed, make a beeline to Asia’s first indoor gamified electric go-kart circuit, HyperDrive, found inside The Palawan @ Sentosa. That’s exactly what Small and Timmy did—and guess what? Small’s husband, Philip, got serious #FOMO and decided to join them for a race!

Not your average race track, HyperDrive is designed to indulge thrill-seekers with its cutting-edge technology and psychedelic visuals. The three-level indoor track was designed by former karting world champion David Terrien, and promises an adrenaline-pumping experience like no other. Think: neon-lit tunnels, warp-speed turns, and mind-bending loops.

“Oh my gosh, I’m so scared!” Small says while gearing up. No need to worry, though: Top-notch safety measures are in place so you can unleash your inner racer with confidence. The Laudes had to go through a safety briefing before getting strapped into their karts for a three-way race. (Can you guess who won?)

Sol & Ora at The Outpost Hotel

All that excitement can surely make you go hungry, so make sure to treat yourself to some sumptuous eats at Sol & Ora, a Latin-Mediterranean restaurant with a name that translates to “the sun and the shore.”

Strategically located on the rooftop of The Outpost Hotel in Sentosa Island, this picturesque joint not only offers amazing coastal views, it indulges with a fresh, produce-driven menu featuring the rich flavors of Italy, France, Spain, and Greece.

Small and Timmy ordered the bestsellers: the Roasted Gilmar Octopus and Wood-Fired Wagyu Flank Steak for their mains, and the Ouzo de Creme—an amazing mix of ouzo with pigskin gin, lemon, and blood orange peach bitters—for their drinks.

“One of the best octopus [dishes] I’ve ever tried,” Timmy gushes during their meal. For dessert, they got the much-raved about Baklava, a delicious Greek pastry treat.

SkyHelix Sentosa

If rooftop views aren’t enough for you, get ready to go sky-high with SkyHelix, Singapore’s highest open-air panoramic ride, just a few minutes away from Sol & Ora. This thrilling ride takes you soaring above Sentosa island's iconic landscapes in an open-air capsule that rises up to 79 meters above sea level and offers a 360-degree spectacle of cityscape and stunning seas.

What’s even more exciting is how the ride leaves your feet dangling in the wind, with the fresh air blowing through your hair. “Just don’t look down!” Small nervously advises their group as the ride escalates, before joking to her Yaya Lotlot beside her, “Lotlot, look down!”

That said, riders will surely overcome their fears once they take in the breathtaking scenery—you can even bring a drink to go with the view! Take your cue from Timmy, who came ready with an ice-cold beer to help calm his nerves.

Singapore Sidecars Tours

Looking for the perfect activity to cap off a day in the city? Tour the metropolis in style via Vintage Vespa Sidecars, offered by Singapore Sidecars Tours, a social enterprise that channels profits and resources to supporting good causes. “These vintage sidecars are a unique way to explore Singapore—offering a closer look at the city's rich heritage and vibrant culture,” says Small.

Singapore Sidecars co-founder, Simon Wong, was on hand to personally give the Laudes their rides, touring them around the Kampong Glam, an enclave of old shophouses, cafes, and nightlife (formerly the seat of Malay Royalty), and the Civic District, where Singapore's historical, architectural, and cultural heritage started. The tour also includes passing through a key part of the Formula 1 Circuit—a must-see for F1 fans!
