Marc Nelson’s Adventures On "Beached" Is Your Ultimate Water Escape This Summertime

The "Beached" host takes us island-hopping around the country—the perfect respite for the scorching summer in our midst

If there’s one thing that the lockdown can’t stop, it’s the arrival of summer season. This year, we welcome the scorching heat inside our homes, making us wish we were submerged in the cool, crystal waters of our favorite beach destination instead. But it doesn’t mean we have to spend the rest of summertime wallowing in self-pity from our canceled vacation plans!

Sure, traveling to an island is out of the question, but there are other ways to satisfy that thirst for the outdoors. Through Metro Channel’s travel show Beached, let host Marc Nelson take you around some of the best destinations the Philippines has to offer.

Throughout its two-season run, some of the highlights show Marc enjoying the natural wonders in several hotspots around the country. Apart from relaxing under the shade of a coconut tree on lazy afternoons and wading in the vast blue ocean, his adventures invite viewers to try out exciting activities every location has to offer.

Another great thing about freediving is that you get to pretend you can fly like a superhero. Which pose would you like me to try next time? So my underwater photo editing just got a whole lot easier. If you’ve ever photographed something underwater, you’ll know that you lose a lot of the color, and everything turns blue or turquoise (due to water filtering out warm colors like red). It usually takes ages of editing to get an underwater photo to look more natural. But now my buddy (and editing sensei) @sebgilbert just released Lightroom presets specifically made for underwater shots, whether they be shot with a professional camera or even a GoPro. These are going to save me sooo much time. As an example, I used them to edit this pic in less than 2mins compared to the hour it would normally take me. Go to maldavarfilms.com or the @maldavarfilms IG page for the link if you want to grab them too. ;) #underwaterphotography #maldavarpresets #freediving #freediver #barracudalake #coron #palawan #itsmorefuninthephilippines #aquamarc #merman #superhero #underwaterflying #freediverlife

A Turtley awesome experience. 🐢❤️ I may have missed World Turtle Day last week, but that’s because we were busy swimming with the biggest turtle I’ve ever seen for #BeachedonMetroChannel. There were a few in the area, but this guy was the biggest and friendliest. Swipe to see just how huge this turtle was compared to us. This is also the best turtle footage I’ve ever taken. So lucky that he wasn’t shy at all... I’m really hoping that future tourist visits to this area of Romblon can be managed sustainably. Perhaps the local community can be trained as guides, and instruct tourists how to view the turtles without touching or harming them in any way, much like they do on Apo Island. That way the the community benefits and has a vested interest in protecting the turtles and their habitat here. Truly an honor to share the ocean with these amazing creatures. (PS- Pls make a conscious choice not to use single use plastics, as tons of pieces end up in our ocean every day, where turtles like this guy accidentally eat it, which can cause massive injury or death). #turtleyawesome #TimeToShellebrate #iShellReturn #TriedToGetAShellfiePhotoWithHim #HeTortoiseToRespectNature #turtle #greenseaturtle #giantturtle #worldturtleday #favoriteanimal #romblon #itsmorefuninthephilippines #wwfphilippines #beachedseason2 #ayokongplastik (shorts by @aigleph , dive gear by @aquamundo_sports).
