Gucci Diaries: Flying To Milan For The Gucci S/S 2020 Fashion Show
Our EIC On The Move Raul Manzano is flying to Italy for Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020 and we’ve got all the deets test
Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020 is in full swing, and we’re keeping our eyes peeled for all the big brands debuting their collections on the runway. But our EIC On the Move is doing more than waiting for the Gucci S/S 2020 show—he is living the full Italian high fashion and high society experience! We follow Raul Manzano’s stops before, during, and after the Gucci S/S 2020 show for the Milan Fashion week for an itinerary to die for.
This is a developing story. Keep checking back as we update it with Raul’s Gucci and Italian experiences.
September 20, Friday
Raul arrives at the Milan Malpensa airport and checks in the Senato Hotel Milano, where he will be staying for the rest of his trip in Milan.
Opened in 1990, the Senato Hotel Milano is a historic-style building just a stone’s throw away from various activities and must-visit spots in Milan. It’s set in the heart of Milan in the vicinity of the Contemporary Arts Pavillion (PAC); it’s about 0.7 km from Pinacoteca di Brera, the main public gallery for paintings in Milan; and an opera house, a cathedral, and a museum are about minutes' walk away.
During his free time, he drops by the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a major landmark in Milan known to be Italy's oldest active shopping mall.
Brunch is at Bistro Aimo e Nadia, a marriage of Italian gastronomy and design. It brought together the well-known Italian restaurant Il Luogo di Aimo e Nadia and Rossana Orlandi, one of the most influential avant-garde design gallerists in the world.
Located in the same complex of the Bistro is the Rosanna Orlandi Art Gallery. It is an avant-garde design gallery and store that gives a space for young talent to showcase their works.
For dinner, Raul visited Sadler Ristorante, a 2-Michelin star restaurant by Chef Patron Claudio Sadler. The restaurant features mainly seafood and fish dishes, cooked in a fusion of traditional and contemporary style. It is a genuine Italian experience—with a bit more flair and fun.
September 21, Saturday
Raul continues his Italian work-slash-vacation at the Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura, Gucci’s new café by Star Chef Massimo Bottura. The café just opened in January, featuring Chef Massimo’s reinterpretation of dishes from all over the world. Main dishes here at the Gucci café range from 20 to 30 euros and Raul shares some of the dishes served to them.
Gucci café is part of the whole Gucci Garden concept, a specially designed space that includes a Gucci store that features special Gucci items and a Gucci Garden Galleria exhibition rooms curated by critic Maria Luisa Frisa. It is indeed a one-stop-shop for the fashion forward, food lover, and museum aficionado.
Before dinner, Raul and the group head back to the Gucci Flagship store for a special book-signing session with the one and only Dapper Dan. Dapper Dan is the epitome of gangster chic—marrying America’s swagger and hustle, with the elegance of luxury fashion. He has clothed the biggest American names like Big Daddy Kane and Mike Tyson in the most luxurious of luxurious—a true master of luxury brands and style like Gucci.
For a more relaxed and chill evening, they spend dinner at Dry, a late-night pizza joint and bar in Moscova. Expect a diverse crowd—from young and upcoming artists to fashion forward socialites—and an amazing dish from its two-Michelin-star chef.
September 22, Sunday
Finally, the big day: the Gucci Spring Summer 2020 Fashion Show. Donning his new Gucci loafers, Raul gets to enjoy the whole show from the front row seats. It was a space and a day for the biggest names in the fashion industry; even American Vogue EIC Anna Wintour came!
