They had known each other in their younger years, but it was only then that their friendship slowly yet significantly transitioned into a romantic relationship. Who would have thought they’re fated to one day have a destination wedding of their own?! </p><p>“We were both always with someone, and even when we were finally single and a little spark flickered, timing was never on our side—especially with me about to move to New York. Life pulled us in different directions until years later, we unexpectedly crossed paths again at a wedding in Spain,” Pat looked back. “I later learned from the bride, his cousin, that he had quietly asked her in advance to seat us next to each other at the reception. At the time, I had no idea that one seating arrangement would change everything.”</p><p>Pat and Turs ended up talking the entire night. “It was the kind of conversation that felt effortless, familiar, and a little dangerous in the best way,” she added. She wasn’t sure about where that memorable night would take them, because she was already living in New York at the time, while he was based in Manila. It was exciting yet uncertain, but Pat said, “We both knew it was worth exploring.” </p><p>Long-distance relationships are never easy. On one hand, the physical distance could lead to couples growing apart; but, on the other hand, absence could also make the heart grow fonder. </p><p>“Texting across time zones and counting down the days until we could see each other again was hard, but it only made our connection stronger,” Pat told <strong>Metro.Style</strong>.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:700px;display:block" width="700"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1769161041786embed_Arturo &amp; Patricia Teaser Photos - 5.jpg" style="width:700px;display:block;height:auto" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="700"/><span class="fr-inner">Invitation by Kasali</span></span></span></div><div style="text-align:left"><br/></div><p>After nine months of maintaining their long-distance relationship, Turs took a leap of faith and moved to New York City, leaving behind his career in showbiz. “It was a bold step, but it reflected what we already knew—that we were choosing each other,” she said.</p><p>Pat and Turs shared the news of their engagement in September 2024. In May 2025, the couple had a civil wedding ceremony in New York. To celebrate with more of their family and friends back home in the Philippines, they held a second wedding earlier this month at <strong>Shangri-La Boracay</strong>, kicking off the new year on an extremely happy note. </p><p>“Our wedding was a beach celebration with a Filipino heart,” Pat described, adding that she has always loved the beach. “Having the ceremony by the ocean just felt right.”</p><div><br/></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1769160227957embed_Arturo &amp; Patricia Teaser Photos - 6.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1769161137046embed_Arturo &amp; Patricia Teaser Photos - 11.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div style="text-align:center"><br/></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>Traditional Filipino touches</strong></div><p>And when it comes to beach weddings, Boracay is top of mind. With many of their guests visiting the Philippines for the first time, this destination was ideal for introducing them to the country Filipinos call home and giving them a glimpse of its unparalleled beauty. </p><p>Through their wedding, not only did Pat and Turs get to honor their family traditions, but they also got to share the country&#x27;s distinct warmth and rich culture with their guests who were new to the Philippines. Even for the outfits of their entourage, they made sure everyone would not only look great but also feel comfortable. &quot;We thought through what guests might wear and encouraged light, breathable fabrics with bright colors and tropical prints,&quot; said Pat. For the bridesmaids, they picked a bright orange hue to complement the seaside and garden setting, while the groomsmen wore Barong Tagalog with black pants. </span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>Great Filipino food at the heart of the celebration</strong></div><p>Turs, son of renowned Filipino chef and host <strong>Sandy Daza</strong>, happens to be a chef, too, so great food was a non-negotiable. </p><p>Putting a lot of thought into their menu, Pat shared, “We made sure the menu highlighted Filipino favorites like chicken <em>inasal</em>, <em>lechon</em>, <em>turon</em>, and dirty ice cream, so our guests could experience Filipino flavors as part of the celebration… I liked imagining our guests enjoying all the Filipino dishes we picked. We made sure we were on the same page for everything, but since he’s a chef, he naturally took the lead on the food and drinks. And of course, he got his dad involved too—Chef Sandy Daza was there to help make everything just right. The best part was that Shangri-La welcomed his ideas and tweaks, so the menu really reflected our tastes.”</p><p>This flexibility reflected the venue’s “level of service and attention to detail,” something the couple truly appreciated. So, it felt right to celebrate their second wedding there. They chose Shangri-La Boracay because, according to Pat, it felt like it had “the perfect balance of familiarity and discovery.” </p><p>The bride continued, “I grew up vacationing in Boracay, and while my husband and I had both spent time on the island before, this was our first experience at the resort. Choosing it allowed us to honor a place that was meaningful to me, while still discovering something entirely new together.”</p><p>Shangri-La Boracay’s <strong>Alon Garden</strong> was what appealed the most to the couple for their ceremony. The spot is famous for coconut trees that make photographs even more stunning. “It was so picturesque that I was sold the moment I saw it in photos,” Pat quipped. </p><p>The area was enhanced with organic elements that looked cohesive with the natural landscape. To stylishly match the beach vibe and at the same time elevate it, Pat opted for pampas accents for both the ceremony and reception. “It felt light and breezy against the seaside backdrop,” she remarked.  </p><p>A nearby waterfront spot, with gorgeous views of the sea and the famous Boracay sunset, served as the venue for their reception. “The resort had beautiful spaces that let us design the wedding our way,” Pat shared. “And as a bonus, our wedding package included a Treehouse Villa overlooking the sea, which made it feel even more special. I also loved that the resort had a private beach for our hotel guests.” </p><p>In line with the Filipino theme, the reception space was dressed up with natural décor such as rattan baskets overhead, globe lights, and mossy green accents. The area was tented, a last-minute decision, to prepare for the possibility of rain. Add the fact that Pat and Turs were planning their Philippine wedding while living in New York, and the journey was not without bumps. For cases like theirs, where time difference presented challenges, it made a world of difference that they worked with a professional wedding planner who specializes in destination weddings. </p><p>“Planning everything from New York across a 13-hour time difference definitely had its moments, but our wedding planner, <strong>Amanda Tirol</strong>, knows all the local vendors so well that everything came together smoothly,” Pat said. </p><p>Wedding planning took about a year, allowing them to really pay attention to every detail of the event, customizing certain elements for a truly personal way of sharing who they are. </p><p>The bride further detailed, “From choosing the entertainment to creating a custom stamp for our coconuts, cocktail stirrers, and napkins featuring our cat’s face (she is such a big part of our lives, so it felt fun and personal to include her), there were little touches of ‘us’ everywhere… We also collaborated with local Boracay vendors on personalized luggage tags for our guests, which were displayed alongside their table numbers.”</p><p>Even the seating arrangements were not random. And so, choosing their pastor for their Christian ceremony was also incredibly important to them. “He spent time with us before the wedding, helping us understand what it means to commit to a marriage rooted in Christ. That made the ceremony feel deeply meaningful,” she said of <strong>Pastor Joby Soriano</strong>, who guided and helped them prepare and share their personal testimonies, letters to their parents, and their vows<strong></strong>. </p><p>Faith, Pat said, was at the heart of their ceremony, the highlight of which was their emotional and heartfelt exchange of vows.</p><p><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DTzPSQqDybd/?hl=en" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">In a video shared by their videographer</a>, <strong>Jason Magbanua</strong>, Turs opened up about the time when Pat got into an accident. He said he received the emergency call while he was at work and immediately rushed to the ER. “My world stopped,” Turs said in his vows, “I remember shaking on the subway, feeling more and more scared as I got closer to you. That night, I was in the ICU, and I prayed to God. I said, ‘Lord, please let Patricia go and take me instead.’ And I fell asleep crying, ‘Lord,<em> ikaw na bahala kay</em> Patricia. I lift her all up to you.’” </p><p>Miracles do happen because of faith and love, and Pat healed and recovered more quickly than expected. That was an eye-opening and life-changing instance for both of them, strengthening their relationship and fortifying their commitment to each other.</p><p>In turn, Pat said in her vows, “Standing here with you today is really special. Loving you, being loved by you, and realizing there&#x27;s no one else I&#x27;d rather marry—twice… As your wife, I vow to love you exactly as you are and never try to change you. Most importantly, I vow to love you unconditionally and to make you feel as loved as you make me feel every single day for the rest of our lives.“</p><div><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1769169259692embed_Arturo &amp; Patricia Teaser Photos - 31.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div style="text-align:center"><br/></div><div style="text-align:center"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1769169282331embed_Arturo &amp; Patricia Teaser Photos - 30.jpg" style="width:700px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div><div style="text-align:center"><br/></div><div style="text-align:left"><br/></div><div style="text-align:left"><strong>Wedding highlights: The couple&#x27;s POV </strong></div><p style="text-align:left">Aside from the meaningful details of the ceremony and the fun welcome party, the couple also considers the speeches from their siblings during cocktail hour to be among the event&#x27;s highlights. </p><p>Further enumerating the unforgettable moments that stood out to them, Pat shared, “<strong></strong><strong></strong><strong>Sunglass Music</strong>, a band from Manila, played five songs after each speech from a curated playlist I had chosen, which made the moment feel even more personal and lively.“</p><p>It may have been their big day, but Pat and Turs wanted the celebration to be an interactive experience for their guests as well. “So we set up a <strong>Polaroid</strong> booth where they could snap photos and hang them for me to keep, <strong>a guest book</strong>, and <strong>a voice message station</strong>,&quot; she added. &quot;<strong></strong>I still have the photos and messages, and it’s such a fun way to remember everyone who shared the day with us.“</p><p>From the kiss-and-shot cam during the reception to the after-party, the event ensured a balance between lighthearted and emotional moments. And everyone capped the night with <strong>DJ Abdel Aziz </strong>playing<strong></strong> all the early 2000s favorites. “The dance floor was packed with everyone energized and dancing. We even had dance instructors leading some routines, and the older guests enjoyed following along,“ Pat recalled. “It was such a joy seeing everyone let loose and have a great time.
