You Have To See This "Alice In Wonderland"-Themed Debut—It's Whimsical And Magical!
Whimsical, ethereal, and dreamy—this is how Ycoy Gonzales-Sitchon, Managing Director and CEO of La Belle Fete Weddings & Events, describes Isabella Medina’s Alice in Wonderland-themed debut at Shangri-La at the Fort.
Undoubtedly a fun and experiential theme for a debut, Alice in Wonderland is a favorite of those celebrating a milestone like this. Ycoy shares, “The theme Alice in Wonderland has been done and interpreted numerous times. As a matter of fact, we have whipped up countless events of the same theme—from a dark, playful interpretation of 'All in a Golden Afternoon;' a whimsical 'Down the Rabbithole;' to a party that focused on the Red Queen’s garden and of course, the famous Mad Hatter’s tea party.” But this one particularly had a different kind of magic that bedazzled their 250 guests.
The venue's styling was spectacular; it carefully curated a unique interpretation of the theme, courtesy of renowned event stylist Dave Sandavol who worked closely with the debutante for the entire planning process.
The flow of the program also featured fantastic, one-of-a-kind elements. Ycoy recalls, “One favorite part is the 18 Colorful Roses wherein each gentleman was asked to give a rose to the debutante and then participate in a dance showdown with her by performing different dance crazes of the past 18 years instead of the usual waltz.” This debut was both elegant and eccentric, but most of all, for guests, it was memorable.
Bella’s cake by Naked Patisserie was a centerpiece that was meticulously detailed with elements that she specifically wanted on her grandiose 6-feet tall cake. The debutante requested a cake fit for a whimsical-themed party, highlighting her favorite characters like the Rabbit, Mad Hatter and, of course, Alice. The overall design of the cake was inspired by the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.
"It symbolizes Isabella’s emancipation and curiosity as she finally comes of age. It is filled to the brim with vibrant colors and it captures the story and adventures of the protagonist and celebrator,” Ycoy says of the theme.
When asked about upcoming trends that La Belle Fête anticipates for future debuts, Ycoy summed up her thoughts with this insight: "the emerging trend is really all about novelty, freshness, and creativity."
