We're Loving This Parisian-Themed Baby Shower—See All The Lovely Details Here!

Paris—it's Jam Chan-Cua's absolute favorite city in the world, with its corner bakeries, pocket gardens, breathtaking architecture, café culture, and overall air of timeless charm.

It's undoubtedly the place where she's happiest, but a trip to the City of Lights this year was put on hold by something much, much bigger—the anticipation of the birth of her baby girl, something that she and her husband Erik Cua had been praying for and were finally blessed with.

However, being a creative mom-to-be, Jam did find a way to combine her love of all things Parisian and the excitement of burgeoning motherhood; along with her friends and family, she staged a French-themed baby shower and gender reveal pary rolled into one, and it was everything she imagined it to be!

Jam's party—cutely named "Bonjour Bebe"—was held at Blackbird Makati, a popular place for special events among the metro's well-heeled, thanks to its picture-perfect interiors.

Partnering with Planogram Events for her photo wall, Edgard Malaria and Fria Balloons for added décor, Style Vents Co. for flowers, and Aperitif PH for the gelato and dessert stations to complete the setup, Jam, Erik, and their guests were more than pleased with how everything turned out. The result was a fun space that maintained its elegance and, most importantly, didn't give away the day's most exciting news.

"For the venue décor, we got a bunch of photos I liked [from] Pinterest and created a mood board from it. Because it was also a gender reveal [party], we didn't want to use colors that would give away the baby's gender. We opted to use peach and gray for the backdrop, and balloons on the photo wall. Peach is such a lovely color and can still be very neutral," Jam adds.

Of course, Paris-inspired elements prettified the venue, too.

"The table setting had a bountiful setup of green leaves and pastel-colored flowers to resemble gardens in Paris... I also made sure the playlist [had] French lounge songs. Lastly, we ordered a gelato cart from Aperitif PH just to give us that extra sweetness of being transported to Paris with a cone of gelato ice cream in your hand. We even had a small Eiffel Tower!" Jam describes.

Likewise, her hand-sketched photo wall was also worth taking note of as she had a friend draw her and her husband's faces onto a photo of a couple pushing a baby carriage in front of the Eiffel Tower.

"Paris is my favorite city in the world and I really wanted to go there this year, but I wasn't allowed to travel due to my pregnancy. So I brought Paris to me!" she laughs.

Then, to get guests excited about the event's biggest moment, Jam had everyone pick up a pink or blue balloon to represent their guess for her baby's gender. Excitement built even more with games in between their arrival and the party's climax, and when everyone had gotten their fill of snacks, this mom-to-be with her own mom and mother-in-law made the big announcement with three giant balloons—in pink!

"My sister was the one who prepared the gender reveal. She ordered three big balloons to be opened... It was so much fun! After a count of three, [the] pink balloons came out and everyone was so excited and happy for us!" Jam recalls.

But as memorable as the day might have been, she knows that it's simply the beginning of the lifelong journey she and Erik will share with their daughter.

Jam, who is also the creative director of furniture company House of Ital and CEO of Nest Manila, is at 33 weeks as of this writing and extremely excited for what's to come.

It's been both a joyful and nervewracking time to be pregnant for the first time, but is soaking every moment up nonetheless.

"I actually didn't read any books about what to expect during pregnancy or motherhood. I think I'll just be surprised along the way! I look forward to meeting this baby girl and how she will change our lives forever. I look forward to seeing her every milestone and guiding her to see the world [through] those two little eyes," she tells Metro.Style

"I know being a mom is hard. And most of the time, I wouldn't really know if I'm doing the right thing or if I'm failing at being a mother, but I will try my best to always be supportive and to always be there for her even if she doesn't want to. Because I think that's what motherhood really is—being present all the time and being the person he or she can lean on at any time. Lastly, I look forward to loving this baby unconditionally until the rest of my life," Jam concludes.

Best of all, as early as now—even before she officially meets her first child—she knows too just how big of a role Erik will play in her first years of motherhood. She calls him her rock and her strength, an extremely big blessing she knows she's fortunate to have.

Their little girl is surely going to be born into the most loving parents there are! Until we finally get to meet her, we're wishing Jam and Erik a big congratulations!
