Gretchen Ho, Kim Atienza and Zoren Legaspi Conquered The Largest Cycling Festival In The World
It was an adrenaline rush to the finish line.
It was an adrenaline rush to the finish line as TV host and former volleyball player Gretchen Ho, actor Zoren Legaspi, and TV host Kuya Kim Atienza joined over 100,000 participants in London to take on the highly-anticipated Prudential RideLondon.
Celebrating health and wellness, the three PRURide PH 2019 ambassadors spent weeks training for the largest cycling festival in the world held last August 3-4, 2019. The festival is one of the most anticipated in the field of cycling, because of its inclusive nature, welcoming everyone from families to amateurs, professionals, and even those with disabilities. Over the years, Pru Life UK – aside from organizing these sports-centered events - has made significant strides in its advocacy of promoting cycling as a healthy and sustainable mode of transportation.
In preparation for the big event, Legaspi – a cycling enthusiast for over three years – trained by riding around Mall of Asia, as well as took on solo rides up to the Sierra Madre from his home in Pasig. These rides helped build strength and stamina and prepared him for the Surrey 100, the 100-mile challenge, which he joined along with Atienza.
The seasoned TV host is no stranger as well to competitive sports, and brought in the same level of dedication and commitment to getting ready for the grueling race. When it came to Prudential RideLondon, Atienza did not want to simply finish the race, he wanted to excel in it as there was the added incentive of raising money for charity. He shared on Instagram, “It was 100 miles of pure beauty in today’s #ridelondon2019. Thank you for the privilege dear Lord. This was a dream growing up. Salamat sa oportunidad #prulifeph!”

Ho, who took on the Surrey 46, a 46-mile ride designed for newer and younger cyclists, was equally ecstatic after crossing the finish line. “Cycling is a sport you can be intense at, but still enjoy. When you're on a bike, it feels like you're traveling, bringing yourself to different places, and at the same time, puwede mo siyang i-scale up,” she shares.
Fellow Pru Life UK employees Kahlil Robles, Ryan Benguelo ,and Nelsi Rabe also joined the ambassadors to represent the company.
“Through this important celebration, we hope to inspire more Filipinos to get active by getting on a bicycle,” says Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Marketing Officer Allan Tumbaga. “We are proud to have such a strong contingent of cyclists at this year’s Prudential RideLondon. Their participation in an event of this magnitude shows that we are committed to our We DO Health campaign to promote a healthy lifestyle. We want to show that being active can also be fun, exciting, and easy,” he adds.
Earlier this year, Pru Life hosted PRURide Ph 2019, which gathered the strongest and most competitive cyclists from the Philippines and across Asia. The two-leg event was held in Filinvest City, Alabang in April, and Subic, Zambales in May, wherein more than 2,500 cyclists participated in 18 challenging categories.
