You&#x27;re not alone. Ever since we were young girls, the pressure of having to navigate our periods has been a constant struggle. We were made to believe that painful menstruation phases were normal. We also never knew who to ask when why we sometimes missed our periods. Now that we&#x27;re all grown up, we have to go through unfamiliar seasons like pregnancy, postpartum depression, perimenopause, and menopause. We caught up with Dr. Jaycy in time for Women&#x27;s Month, to find out what inspired her to put this clinic up.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>Metro.Style: Tell us about your beginnings. How did you get to where you are now? Has this field always been your passion?</strong></div><p><strong>Dr. Jaycy Violago-Olivarez: </strong>When I was a child, I loved playing doctor. There was something magical about the idea that you could help someone feel better simply by caring for them. That fascination never left me. As I moved through medical school, I discovered that every field carried its own weight and complexity—but when it came to women&#x27;s health, something clicked. It felt natural. The women in my life have always inspired me—and they still do. Watching them move through the world, quietly holding together families, communities, and society at large, I knew this was the work I was meant to do. Know what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. This is your <em>Ikigai.</em> Investing in yourself and understanding these foundations will form your vision and guide your day-to-day decisions. Second, it is through humility that you will continue to learn and grow. An open mind and a curious attitude will open opportunities for growth and development. Most importantly, make your health a priority. What is your passion?</strong></div><p><strong>JVO: </strong>The cries of my newborn—that&#x27;s what wakes me up! But in all seriousness, I wake up every day with a deep sense of gratitude. I am privileged to be exactly where I am: a growing family with two toddlers and a newborn, and a husband whose support has made everything possible. I get to practice as a doctor and build Eluvo—a vision I have carried for over a decade. Eluvo is more than a company; it is a legacy I am nurturing for my children, and for every woman who comes after me.<strong></strong></p><div><strong><br/></strong></div><div><strong>MS: If you could change one thing in your journey, what would it be?</strong></div><p><strong>JVO: </strong>I wish I had been more intentional about caring for my body during my postpartum recovery after my first pregnancy. When you are juggling so much, your own health becomes the easiest thing to set aside. Looking back, I wish I had been gentler with mysel—more patient, more compassionate. It is the most transformative relationship you will ever cultivate—and the one that will carry you through everything else.</p><div><strong><br/></strong></div><div><strong>MS: If you could go back in time, what would you like to tell your 18-year-old self?</strong></div><p><strong>JVO: </strong>Every choice has a consequence, and every consequence builds on the last. The life you are living today is the sum of every decision that came before it. Choose with intention.</p><div><strong><br/></strong></div><div><strong>MS: What&#x27;s next for you and your brand?</strong></div><p><strong>JVO: </strong>As a doctor and entrepreneur, I am committed to continuous learning—staying at the forefront of the best treatments and practices so I can walk alongside women through every stage of their health journey. I nurture Eluvo the way I nurture my own children: with intention, with love, and with a long view.
