3 Practical Tips For Eating Right Whatever The Weather Or Body Type

Summer is over and if you think that your “summer bod” diet may have already ended with it, think again. The seasons may have changed but the goal should still remain the same. Don’t let the gloomy weather rain on your fitness parade.

We all know it’s that time of the year again when there’s nothing more pleasurable than to be tucked under covers, or warmed up with endless spoonfuls of hot delicious food, making it easier to slip out of the fit and healthy lifestyle. But remember that diet is not only good for the body, but also the mind. Get in tip-top shape these diet tips that will not just get you through until next summer, but all year round.

Tip 1: Understand your body, and let it shape the way you perceive diet.

You may call yourself, pear, apple, or hourglass shaped. The list of body shapes goes on and on, but actually there are three body types on a person’s skeletal structure and body composition. The ectomorphs have small frames, little observable fat, light muscles and usually struggle to gain weight or muscle. Endomorphs are curvy or rounder and don’t have difficulty gaining weight, but do have difficulty losing it. Lastly, mesomorphs are those who are naturally athletic and find it easy to build muscle.


Camille Montenegro, Baron Method nutrition coach, does note that although there is a lot of talk going on about eating for your body type, the body, regardless of shape, needs good quality food and a good balance of all the macronutrients. Contrary to popular belief, eliminating a particular food group, for example carbohydrates, is never recommended. She shares that knowing your body type can give you a better understanding of how your body works and behaves, but it does not determine what you should or shouldn’t eat. 


Tip 2:  No matter the body type, cut out refined sugar, chemically processed oils and food, and artificial or synthetic ingredients.

Unhealthy food is bad food no matter if you are an ectomorph, endomorph or mesomorph. All of the food mentioned above cause bloating, acidity, water retention, and can be very harmful to one’s health regardless of body type.

Although each body is shaped differently and processes food differently, eating foods that are more natural and less refined always gives favorable results.



TIP 3: When it comes to eating food, the closer it is to nature, the better.

Although your body type is something to consider if you want to shape your body, the priority must always be to have a clean and balanced diet.

Eating real whole foods helps the body by increasing your metabolism, speeding up recovery, lowering inflammation and strengthening the immune system.


At the end of the day, what you eat matters more than the hours you put into the gym. Feeding your body well will allow you to be more efficient in burning fat and building muscle, no matter what your body type may be.

So instead of joining in on the sweater weather slump this month, get proactive and make health and fitness your lifestyle. Turn your once a year summer bod motivation into a full blown 12-month practice, and you’ll find yourself to be at its best shape, regardless of whatever body type you may be.
