Kim Chiu's Take On Working Out Will Motivate You For Your Next Sweat Sesh
Much more than serving aesthetic purposes, for Kim, working out is a way of strengthening your body especially today when staying healthy is of utmost importance
Kim Chiu has always been #FitnessGoals. But throughout the lockdown and while we're under quarantine, people have been seeing more and more just how serious, dedicated, and disciplined Kim is when it comes to working out, thanks to her inspiring social media posts. Even when she's cooped up in her home, she makes it a point to stay fit and healthy.
It's easy to laze around at home—eat, sleep, chill, repeat—but what helped Kim really get into the rhythm of a well-balanced routine and cycle is forming a habit. She established a routine at home and makes sure to stick to it, no matter what. "Ako, sometimes kasi boring mag-workout, parang nakakapagod na," Kim admits. "Pero you just have to jump-start. Paggising mo sa umaga, have coffee and wear your workout outfit para alam ng sarili mo na 'uy, magwo-workout ako ah.'"
When you lack the motivation to sweat it out at home, let these thoughts from Kim inspire you to get moving.
1. Kim emphasizes the fact that when you exercise, your lungs become stronger.
She works out six times a week. Once or twice during that span, she dedicates three hours for working out. "I bike for two hours and do high-intensity training for one hour," she says. Other times, she turns to this simple exercise tool: jump rope; and she does 1,000 jumps a day! Kim adds, "Ayokong magka-muscle. Gusto ko lang mawala 'yung mga extra fat that is really needed. Tapos pinapalakas ko lang 'yung lungs ko since I have asthma, so mahirap 'yun in this time of COVID-19. So, 'pag nakakahinga pa ako fully, ibig sabihin healthy pa 'yung lungs ko. Pinapagod ko 'yung lungs ko para maging strong sila."
2. Kim recommends this fitness hack: binge-watch while exercising.
It can get really boring to workout, especially when you're just in the comforts of your own home and the "magnetic pull" of your bed is so strong it makes you want to doze off. Now, here's a pretty cool tip from Kim. If you're not following a video workout and will just use a treadmill, a stationary bike, a jump rope, or even a hula hoop to sweat it out, Kim suggests, "If they get bored, manood sila ng favorite na pinapanood nila sa Netflix na series kasi in one episode, meron 1 hour and 30 minutes, so matatapos nila 'yung episode na 'yun habang nagwo-workout sila, nagba-bike or nag-ru-run. So, at least, may nangyayari sa kanila habang nanonood ng Netflix series."
3. Kim likes the idea of rewarding herself with a delicious post-workout treat.
In a virtual press conference for Tiger Crackers, a brand Kim endorses which recently launched Pinoy-inspired flavors ensaymada and leche flan, she said that she can actually finish a hefty serving of leche flan in one sitting. And she doesn't mind the calories, because she knows she worked out hard enough, so she won't be guilty of eating back a bit of those calories she burned through exercise. For guilt-free workout snacks, she shared that a 120-calorie pack of Tiger Crackers won't hurt, too. Besides, even if she does give in to her cravings today, she knows that tomorrow she'll get her groove back and spend hours staying on track with her fitness routine again. For Kim, it's more like sleep, eat, workout, work or chill, repeat.
