From the outside looking in, cycling looks simple. All you have to do is pedal, right? But let’s be honest, it can sometimes come off as intimidating, and you might even find yourself thinking, “Wait, do I need more new gear?”, “What are the essential pieces considered as cycling clothing?” or even, “Can I just wear lower socks?”
But once you take that first ride, we’re pretty sure you’ll get hooked by the sense of freedom, adventure, and joy that cycling gives.
This 2020, stick to your new year health goals and make smart changes when it comes to your fitness journey by joining cycling events like PRURide PH.
To get you started, the country’s biggest cycling festival will be held on March 11-15 in Clark, Pampanga. This edition is expected to welcome over 2,500 cyclists, including 18 international and local professional cycling teams, who will race in several categories. Here, cyclists can also join the Virtual PRURide and PRURide Criterium, which will feature different race categories, including fixed gear, road bike, and mountain bike races.
But if you’re new to cycling, don’t worry because they also have non-competitive rides such as Gran Fondo, which is perfect for beginners and hobbyists, and Striders Cup, for children ages 2-6, who will race using non-pedal bikes. It doesn’t end there! The event will also include a new cycling activity meant for PRU Life UK agents and employees. Excited yet?
If you wish to see some exciting action from international and local pros, why not check out PRURide UCI 2.2 Stage Races, a three-day race accredited by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the world’s governing body for cycling.
“We are excited to launch PRURide PH 2020 after the success of our first three editions. Since becoming UCI 2.2-accredited in 2019, PRURide PH is expected to grow bigger and become more exciting,” shares SVP and Chief Customer Marketing Officer Allan Tumbaga. “It is now a five-day marquee, featuring cycling activities made more thrilling with the addition of new routes in Clark and Tarlac. With these, we aim to offer the best PRURide PH yet to our recreational and professional cyclists from within the Philippines and Asia.”
And what makes this festival even more exciting is the return of PRURide PH’s celebrity ambassadors, Gretchen Ho, Kim Atienza, and Zoren Legaspi. These celebrities are expected to join and compete in various rides, together with other participants.
“Through PRURide PH, we want to show that having an active lifestyle can be a fun activity enjoyed by friends and families. At the same time, we hope to inspire others to get on a bike and start their own fitness journeys,” adds Allan.
The benefits of cycling are endless. It improves your heart health, strengthens your lungs, helps your joints stay healthy, and many more. That’s why it’s time to put your cycling plan into action, and try this sport now!
