Let Hot Yoga Fire Up Your Workout Experience

Vida brings the international yoga discipline to BGC

Now that it’s the holiday season, you might need to match your appetite for festivities with a new workout. Get a step ahead of your New Year’s resolutions perhaps? You might even want to have to study a new discipline to help out with your life goals.

If this resonates with you, you might want to consider something exciting and effective like hot yoga.

Vida is a standout among the plethora of yoga studios and exercise branches in the metro as it specializes in hot yoga. The success of Vida in Alabang, which just opened last June, pushed founders Amanda Griffin-Jacob and Karmela Oreta to find a second home at The Plaza at Arya Residences in Bonifacio Global City. The branch serves as the flagship of Vida featuring two floors. The shower area, lockers, and the in-house Life Cafe are on the first floor and the yoga studio—which has enough space for 32 mats—is on the second floor.

Amada and Karmela emphasize that hot yoga multiples the benefits of yoga. At Vida, special infrared panels from the United States heat up classes to around 38C to 40C. “Hot yoga has physical, mental, and beauty benefits,” shares Karmela. “It also helps with detoxification, anti-anxiety, helps your skin, respiratory system, and blood circulation among many other benefits.”

Amanda’s and Karmela’s love and dedication over yoga permeates through the studio. Both are long-time yoga practitioners and advocates of a healthy lifestyle, and Vida is their way of growing their community and sharing the benefits of yoga.

Amada shares to Metro.Style, “We are the only hot yoga studio in BGC right now. Our classes start at 6:30 am as we want to catch the corporate crowd. We set up the studio in a way that you don’t have to bring anything—just a change of clothes. We provide towels, mats, and all-natural hygiene products. There’s no excuse: You can come in, go to class, shower, and go to work.”

Karmela chimes in, “It’s a similar experience to what we have abroad so we wanted to bring that here and make it accessible also.” Paired with this vision is how Vida links up with veteran international yogis such as Copper Crow.

There are different packages and rates for every yogi at Vida. Newbies are welcome along with those who want to level up their practice. Amanda mentions, “Our goal is bring the very best teachers to Manila to train our local teachers. We want to uphold the standards of hot yoga training here in the country.”

Vida mainly offers four different class categories of classes. Hot 26 is for those who want to detoxify through 26 poses done in 75 minutes. A condensed version is Hot Express with the same 26 poses done in 60 minutes.

Hot Vinyasa adds a different element to a regular Vinyasa flow as the temperature enhances strength, flexibility, and balance. A variation of this is Hot Slow Flow that’s about gentle movements for relaxation and flexibility.

Certified yogis will love Inferno Hot Pilates and Hot Hybrid to intensify their practice.

If you’re still a bit intimidated, Vida has non-hot classes.

Vida seems to be the place to be whether you’re a consistent yogi looking for a boost to your routine, a workout beginner who wants something that’s challenging and effective, or if you’re looking to be a teacher trained at the best level.
