Celebrities and Personalities Join Metro in DIY Face Masks Campaign

Protect yourself and protect others by wearing a mask. Metro continues its #AtHomeWithMetro campaign with homemade mask tutorials and more

We’ve done our part in staying at home and washing our hands. As we wait for the quarantine to be lifted, there is one more thing that we can continue doing in the next weeks, or even months—wearing a face mask.

Now wearing a face mask has been subject to many debates, but recently even the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization are reconsidering their statements on how healthy people should not wear face masks against COVID-19.

Currently, in the WHO advisory, it was said that if you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with suspected COVID-19 infection, or if you’re coughing and sneezing. Otherwise, you should give the medical masks to those who need it more, like frontliners.

Now, there is clamor to change these recommendations, as additional risks on transmission via droplets and close contact emerge. So how do we all keep safe despite not having access to medical masks? Well you can make your very own homemade face mask! There are may mask designs and templates online that you can choose from. But, if you want to get some inspiration, we have some of our Metro Channel hosts, designers, editors, who’ll show you how they’re making their own mask. Check it out!
