Beauty Sleep Is Real! This Is The Ultimate Guide To Sleep Your Way To Better Health!

When it comes to your beauty routine, sleep may be the closest thing there is to a fountain of youth. As you may have noticed, sleep does wonders for us. When we sleep our bodies recharge, and it does even more than helping you feel rested; it protects your health and immune system, improves your cognitive function, your memory and your athletic performance. During sleep we heal, restore and eliminate toxins from the skin.

So, if you still find yourself missing out on good sleeping habits, we've got some tips for you. We talked to licensed aromatherapist, Gloria Yuan, who works as an international trainer at Neal’s Yard Remedies, to share with us some hacks on how to get a beauty sleep.

Achieve quality sleep. No matter how much you sleep, there is no substitute for quality sleep, each and every night. “Quality is more important. If you can have like 30 minutes of power nap, it already resets your mind. In Chinese, we have a saying that 1 hour of nap is equal to 2 hours of sleep at night. If you can have a good nap during day time, you can be really effective in the afternoon at work."

Essential oils will help you sleep better. “The most famous one is really the lavender. Chamomile is a very soothing one as well and then orange blossom.”

Create healthy sleeping habits. Make your room as dark as possible, “when you sleep with the lights on, keep it away from your eye level, [and] keep the space dark.”
