World Earth Day 2021: Transforming Our Planet Through Honest Beauty

Beauty brand Bioten believes that caring for oneself is caring for the planet, too—and they show us how.

This World Earth Day 2021, Metro and sustainable skincare brand Bioten celebrate three environmental advocates —Nadine Lustre, Issa Barte, and Tessa Prieto Valdes— who have used their platforms and talents in creating more awareness for the most pressing issues that the planet is facing. Like Bioten, these three advocates put purpose to concrete action and commitment to the environment.

As Bioten believes in collective care not just for consumers but also for the planet, they tapped actress and singer Nadine Lustre for the 88,000 Trees Campaign—a reforestation project with partners For The Future PH and Make A Difference (MAD) for the Yangil tribe in Zambales.

It aims to raise funds for 88,000 trees, which represents the brand’s 88% natural ingredients in their Skin Moisture line. In order to achieve this goal, Nadine challenges her followers to donate and reach half of the target amount, while Bioten will shoulder the other 50%. This move encourages the concept of bayanihan—that one small contribution made by a number of people can create the lasting impact.

Thus began the foray of Bioten into engaging not just beauty fans with their bestselling products, but also finding ways to keep true to their brand identity. Together with For the Future PH and MAD founder Issa Barte, along with sea advocate Tessa Prieto Valdes, the brand celebrates Earth Day 2021 not just with the 88,000 Trees Campaign, but also with the clam seedling project of Save the Philippines Seas with Tessa. Bioten and Tessa Prieto-Valdes have partnered together to donate P93,000 for the clam seeding project of Save the Philippine Seas. This is representative of the 93% ingredients of natural origin in Tessa's preferred Bioten skincare line.

How to help

While each of us can find our ways of helping the environment, we can make lasting impact through the lifestyle choices that we make, as seen in the stories that Nadine, Issa, and Tessa.

Choices include products that are honest and transparent in how they impact the environment. In the case of European skin care brand Bioten, they harnesses the power of nature to provide high-performing products for all ages and skin types. They only use 100% natural key ingredients derived from eco-friendly and gentle extraction methods are used for their products.

Also, honesty is at the forefront of their name, assuring consumers with full transparency of information on the percentage of ingredients of natural origin in its formulae, while its packaging is made of fully recyclable materials and applies an energy management system in its factory. The brand proves that being eco-conscious can be good for your skin—a win-win situation for both you and our planet.

Launched in the Philippines only last year, the beauty brand currently offers two variants of its Skin Moisture line—the Normal/Combination Skin and Dry/Sensitive Skin. Addressing skin concerns of Filipinas of different skin types, one won’t get lost in the path towards honest and conscious skincare. Their formulations are intensified with prebiotics that help your skin’s microbiome retain a healthy balance, as well as Hydronutrient 24H, an advanced moisturizing complex combining the purity of natural ingredients with science to provide long-lasting hydration.

The Skin Moisture Normal/Combination Skin contains Quince extract that contains a high percentage of polysaccharides, which are good film formers and therefore excellent moisturizers. Meanwhile, the Skin Moisture Dry/Sensitive Skin takes pride in its superpower ingredients, saffron, which are rich in antioxidants with skin healing properties that help increase the skin’s elasticity.
