The Beauty Beat: Must-Have Launches from Dior, MCM, and Dr. Vranjes

<p>Sometimes the best things come by way of serendipitous discoveries, and the story behind <strong>Dior</strong>’s new lipstick is one such tale. “The main brief was the benefits of the best of a liquid [lipstick] combined with the best of a stick, and as long-lasting as possible,” declares <strong>Dior Makeup’s Creative and Image Director Peter Philips </strong>on their direction for R&amp;D. The brand, however, didn’t expect their lab to come up with such a perfect in-between formulation as <strong>Rouge Dior On Stage</strong>, with the staying power of a liquid and the nourishing qualities of a stick. But at the same time, with the comfort and precision of a classical lipstick,” Philips tells <strong>Metro Magazine.</strong> This almost vinyl-like sheen is also perfectly in line with the “essence of glow” that he feels will be trending for Fall-Winter.</p><p>With a campaign fronted by actress Jenna Ortega, Rouge Dior On Stage launches this month in the Philippines in 10 flattering shades curated by the Belgian makeup artist. Equally chic is the lippie’s elegant packaging, which is designed to give the slightly softer formulation more structure. Philips recommends putting a little bit on the hands, and then grabbing a bit of product with a Kabuki brush before blending onto the skin, to give it a nice soft-focus effect. If you want it sheerer, he advises layering blush under foundation to give cheeks a subtle color, gradually building it up until you get your desired effect.</p><p>To make it even more fun, Philips recommends blending two colors to create a nice degradé effect, like for instance with the beautiful pink shades of Fuchsia and Lily. “So you can work the light pink with the dark pink, and combine them,” he shares. Over on the warm side, one can try applying Daisy, which is a nice coral, over a larger surface, then topping off with Bloom. Sometimes it’s something that’s got a fearless personality, resonating with our own desire for playfulness and adventure. Other times, it can be something that perks you up with its brightness, or perhaps offers a bit of comfort with its elegant woody allure. Another elegant floral is <strong>Charming Pup</strong>, with rose, cedarwood, and vetiver accented with citrusy top notes.</p><p>Meanwhile, <strong>Jolly Rabbit</strong> is sparkling and exuberant, with a heart of ginger, neroli, and jasmine, as well as touches of red currant, orange and vetiver. <strong>Mighty Bear</strong>, on the other hand, is an ambery and woody floral that is sweet yet grounding with bergamot, vanilla, and sandalwood. If you’re craving something unexpected, <strong>Daring Dragon</strong> is an elixir of yuzu, clementine, almond flower, and muguet that is unique in the way it reveals its facets over time. </p><p>The six unisex perfumes are led by a predisposition towards uplifting citrus scents combined with the magnetism of woody base notes. They’re all informed with a chic, androgynous quality that’s softened with the presence of powdery or creamy florals.
