The Best Moments At Paris Couture Week Fall ’23
Couture is always a magical time!
This season of Paris Couture Week Fall/Winter 2023 is no different when it comes to magic. Each show took its own space and made a moment out of it.
From the Baz Luhrmann-directed Valentino show to the exquisite Schiaparelli show as always, see all the stunning moments of this season’s Couture Week shows.
Dior
The show held at the Musée Rodin in Paris was a visual feast of well-loved shapes like the tunic, peplum, the cape, and the stole. While these aren’t new forms, the ingenuity lies in the details. Each woman looked like a goddess in a museum, sculpted by the very hands of Maria Grazia Chiuri. There is sensitivity in the collection while firming up to be such a strong, hushed collection.
Valentino
Set against the magnificent Château de Chantilly, Valentino’s Haute Couture show is about simplicity and its paradox. When we think of couture, we think of grandness and complexity. But for Pierpaolo Piccioli, it’s actually quite simple—and such is the essence of couture. One of the touching moments of the show was the ending when the couturiers behind the collection walked down the runway as well.
Schiaparelli
Some of the highlights of couture week are lies in the most surreal. Schiaparelli never fails to deliver on that. Daniel Roseberry sculpted silhouettes as if they’re not real and not made by humans. There’s jewellery, embroidery, craftsmanship. Everything you can think of! It’s truly spectacular when a collection makes your eyes feel.
Balenciaga
Balenciaga’s couture shows always make a stand. It’s atypically couture but it’s everything what couture should be: mastery of the clothes and pieces that evoke emotions. They’re modernized armor and that’s what clothes are to Demna Gvasalia. The sleek collection ended with a Joan of Arc-like armor look and it easily stole the season.
