Emerging Designers - The first to show were three emerging designers. Corven Uy and Gabriel Buenabajo are fresh graduates from De La Salle College of St. Benilde, while John Jade Montecalvo is a designer who began during the pandemic. Each had different inspirations for their pieces, for Corven it was PDA, for Gabriel it was the kumot, and for John it was the basahan.
Michael Leyva - Michael Levya presented a stunningly gorgeous all-white collection. His goal was to create intricate designs while maintaining a very classic and timeless silhouette. He stated that he was inspired by the designer Ramon Valera. At the end of his collection, we saw Isko Moreno walk the runway.
Puey Quiñones - Puey Quiñones presented a monochromatic collection filled with volume and ribbons. His pieces showed off the creativity and newness he brings as a Filipino designer. For Rampa, he said that he wanted “to show the creativity of a Filipino designer not only creating a Filipiniana, but the spirit of the Filipino designer.”
Jo Rubio - For Jo Rubio’s collection he brought together his affinity for romance alongside his vision to mesh old traditions with newer aesthetics. It is because of this that he presented a collection featuring a modern take on the Filipiniana. At the end of his collection, Mayor Honey Lucana-Pangan came out in one of his creations.
Marlon Tuazon - The models of Rampa Manila came out in a splash of bright colors as they walked in Marlon Tuazon’s collection. Marlon was excited to be part of this event and stated, “This time, I would like to showcase the terno in bold colors like neon.” He was able to do this while retaining the elegance of the classic look.
Albert Andrada - Albert Andrada presented a collection with varying colors and silhouettes that featured not only the well-known piña fabric, but also textiles from different regions in the Philippines. His concept for Rampa is “the beauty of the Philippines which we have to flaunt to the international platform.”
