With many of our favorite stars arriving at the ball in sophisticated black dresses, it’s only fitting that we showcase the best of those looks!

At the red carpet, we saw a wonderful array of classic, imaginative, and modern takes on the well-loved black gown. From sleek, fierce couple looks, such as that of Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson, to the innovative pieces worn by the likes of Maja Salvador, Angel Aquino, and Anji Salvacion, this year's line-up certainly didn’t fall anything short of impressive.

In the gallery below, we have compiled the best black evening gowns seen at this year’s ABS-CBN Ball. Take a look and tell us which ones you think stand out the most!

Judy Ann and Ryan Agoncillo - Judy Ann-Agoncillo attended the ball accompanied by her husband and looked like the definition of a powerful modern day woman. She wore a Rajo Laurel piece that featured a high shoulder with a sleeve that matched the gown’s length.

Iza and Ben Wintle - Iza and Ben Wintle were absolutely glowing when they arrived at the ball. While Ben went for the classic suit and tie, Iza opted for this Andrea Tetangco creation that makes use of artistic fabric manipulation throughout the piece.

Julia Baretto and Gerald Anderson - The power duo, Julia Baretto and Gerald Anderson, took it to the next level by wearing nothing but black. Julia Baretto brought out her natural beaming beauty in a YSL cut-out gown and Gerald Anderson wore a black suit that had an embossed pattern on its coat and pleated detailing on the shirt.

Maja and Rambo Nuñez - Maja looked posed stunningly in this jaw-dropping creation by Puey Quinones. The layered gown used a luxe black satin fabric for its top layer that showed off a plunging neckline, while the bottom layers of white tulle peeked out.

Julia Montes and Coco Martin - Julia Montes and Coco Martin held hands as they smiled in their black ensembles. Coco wore a suit with an interesting bow from Suit It Up Manila, while Julia wore an amazingly created puffed gown from LSW.

Cassy Legaspi - Cassy Legaspi and Darren Espanto were quite the power couple in their sleek monochromatic ensembles. The pair wore ensembles from Francis Libiran with Cassy wearing an elegant off-shoulder gown and Darren wearing a 3-piece suit of both white and black.

Anji Salvacion - Anji Salvacion looked like the Filipina version of the classic black swan in this piece by RAU. We love the way the gown highlights the sharp features of her face, making her look fiercer than ever!

Miles Ocampo - Miles Ocampo showed up in a black gown whose bodice seemed to flow right into the skirt and all the way down to the floor. The tasteful gown came from Maison Soriano.

Arci Muñoz - Arci Muñoz posed beautifully as she wore this detailed black gown with an exquisite detail on its bust from the designer Ehrran Montoya. The overall look definitely left us all in awe!

Angel Aquino - Angel Aquino walked on the carpet wearing a modern take on the timeless black dress. With this tailored, creatively textured, one-shoulder gown, she was able to show off the gorgeous artwork on her arm.

Pops Ferandez - Pops Ferandez was draped in beautiful layers of organza that cascaded along her figure. This modern creation was intelligently crafted by Randy Ortiz.

Ruffa Gutierrez - Ruffa Gutierrez wore a straight cut tube gown with skillful pleated draping that moves diagonally, from her shoulder down to her hip. This modern take of a black gown was done by Rajo Laurel.

Ina Raymundo - Ina Raymundo’s smile shone brightly as she was pictured in this custom Mara Chua gown. The piece fit her to perfection and had expertly draped details on her bodice all the way to her skirt.
